I got a question?
Instead of food stamps families receive a debit card. Now if they return grocery items they purchased back to the store do they put the money back on the card or just give them cash?
I know that when I return stuff Wal-Mart doesn't put it back on the card they give me cash and if I don't have a receipt I get a gift card.

Good question, but I don't know the answer. Babe might know, she has worked as a cashier at a grocery store before she became a stripper!!

Since food stamps are paid for with tax dollars, I think anyone that pays taxes has an interest in whether or not they are abused.

Queen bee's questions made me curious so I let my fingers do the walking on the net. FYI, the latest figure I could find for the food stamp error rate, that is underpayment as well as overpayment including fraud, is 5.84% nationally. The latest number I found for GA was just over 6%.
Although it is against the "rules", some people do return food items because they REALLY need cash to purchase necessary supplies like TP, tampons, detergent, soap, etc. If you can't eat it, you can't buy it with food stamps.

I'm backkkkkkkkkkk. Sorry to prove you do gooders wrong. However you seem so interested in what poor people are DOING with your tax money, are you so concerned about the politians that throw good money after bad & etc. I think not or you would be yakking about them. No ,its easier to pick or complain about people down on thier luck. How much food do you think people carry back & say "oh, I'm not hungry so could I have the money back" You all seem to love animals & feed them but people with kids to feed is different. You know the Indian saying about "walk a mile in my shoes" & some of you have walked that mile yourself . Love to you all.

I don't understand it, either... what did we do/say? I have "walked in those shoes" before and it is no fun when you wonder whether you will be able to feed your child or pay the rent. And just because a question came up about one topic does not mean we are not concerned with other wasteful spending of tax dollars. Give me a break!

I know of someone who is an abuser. He works and makes $18 an hour. His wife is healthy, two kids in school and has never worked a day in 12 years. They get welfare and food stamps, but I don't know why. When he worked for us for 5 years, they always got food stamps. If you need them, I am all for it. I don't want anyone to go hungry!

BEE IS HERE
Evidently I hit a sore spot with old red, maybe they are guilty of this.
The guilty dog always barks first.
I was in the returns line at Wal-mart on the day I posted. This lady returned food items, like fresh squash, a small ham, other fresh veggie items and some really odd stuff. They had a problem with the return and the machine wouldn't issue the credit. We stood in line for over 20 minutes waiting on this. She also combined her mother's return's with her's and they ended up getting about $70.00 back.
AND I CAN ASK ANY QUESTIONS I WANT TO, SO THERE
