I hope you still think they're cute by mid-term! My 10 year old niece, who has always said that she was going to be a FAMOUS actress when she gows up, has recently announced that she wants to be a teacher instead. I thought that was neat - you don't hear kids aspire to that so much anymore and it's such an important profession. I've always felt that teachers were WAY underpaid and underappreciated.

My day was lovely even though it started with a dental appointment! I took today off and enjoyed the beauty of my pasture on this breezy day. Sat by the creek reading a book. I haven't done that in almost a year!

Laurel no day with the dentist in it is good, but glad you were able to sit and enjoy His creations. It is amazing just how long that you can sit and look at a pasture or mountain. We certainly live in a wondrous place.

Indeed! I marvel at His creations - I never tire of it. I was driving home across the dam yesterday and it took my breath away as if it was my first time seeing the sun glistenting on the water. I've seen it zillions of times but it still keeps me in awe. Plus, my dentist tells me bible stories while working on my mouth so that keeps me distracted!

Well the Lord has provided us with many wonderful things. Fortunately for me, He graced someone with the knowledge to invent laughing gas. ;D LOL ;D I walk in and ask for my mask when I sign in.

Today was a great day! I am so happy that it is Friday and I just finished the last of the canning. That is for the moment. There will be more to come next week. This means a free weekend! ;D ;D

congrats Ana! I haven't canned on my own - I remember helping my Mom when I was little though. I use the grill and freeze method which works for some but not all veggies. When I get a break from the store I'd like to learn to can.

It is really very easy and I'd be more than glad to help you learn.

when a person starts to can, how long does it take - I mean - how much time do you set aside to "get some canning done"?

LOL! Well it just depends on what you are canning. If you are canning green beans, I personally think they take the longest. Picking, stringing, breaking, washing and packing. Plus it all depends on how much you have also. Tomatoes are the easiest.

I'm not sure if I answered your question or not. A hugh factor is production. We grow our own so I made pickles for about two weeks when the cucumbers were bearing. If we had a bunch it may take the afternoon. If I only had a few a couple hours or less.

If you are buying them from others you just buy it and fix it. If I were doing that I would probably try to reserve a Saturday or a long afternoon.

There are many ways to work around schedule obstacles.
