Paris has only one goal--spend other peoples money, don't matter on what, just spend it to keep the budget up.
oops, Paris said he didn't know he wasn't supposed to load voting machines in his car on election day.
oops, Paris said people are getting lost on the golf course, buy GPS units for the golf carts.
oops, Paris said let's pay $1 million for 30 acres of land valued at $240,000. Land with no road access bordered by 2 rivers.
oops, Paris said splost revenues exceed $16 million, let's add onto the courthouse but not show where the rest of the money went.WHERE DID THE MONEY GO?
oops, Paris said let's create a corporation without the voters approval and spend another $1 million for land valued at $270,000.
oops, Paris said let's pay the higher bidder for property assessment and drive up assessments and get more tax dollars to waste while I keep the millage low and fool the people into thinking their taxes are one of the lowest in the State.
oops, Paris said we have one of the lowest property taxes in the State but the evidence shows otherwise.
oops, Paris said NO too many times and has numerous lawsuits against the County. Is this where the splost monies have gone?
oops etc, oops etc, oops etc.

It's a shame that Paris, the sorry NGN, and Ape believe the citizens of Union County are ignorant enough to believe that property taxes are low when the good citizens of Union County are smart enough to see for themselves that Paris has tripled property taxes and collected over $16 million in splost funds and only have a courthouse addition and a few shelters at the park to show for it. WHERE DID THE REST OF THE SPLOST FUNDS GO?
It's a shame that Lamar, the sorry NGN, and Ape have mis-reported the facts to the good People of Union County.
It's a shame that the commisar, the sorry NGN, and Ape all three continue to deny the wasteful spending of County funds.
It's a shame that the Commissioner, the sorry NGN, and Ape continue to insist there is no area where County spending can be cut.
It's a shame that Paris uses State funds to build a County Health Department building, using local plans and local builders with local building inspectors, and they still build a building with water pipes in the ceiling with no insulation or heat to keep the pipes from freezing costing taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars to fix. And the sorry NGN and Ape don't have a thing to say about it.
It's a shame the commisar, the sorry NGN, and Ape insist the commissioner don't have to abide by the Laws of the State of Georgia in the proper reporting of spent splost funds.
It's a shame that Paris, the sorry NGN, and Ape believe(and they may be right) they have fooled the good citizens of Union County into believing this high taxing, wasteful spending, mis-reporting, not abiding by the laws commisar will be re-elected.
It's a shame that older citizens are getting lost on the golf course and the commisar buys frivolous toys like GPS units to locate these people. I've heard 3 people are still missing.(pun)

I hope everyone will look at Paris' and his ridiculous tax evaluation on Harold's property and on his business in the NGN on this week's issue. I will not comment on the low taxes he claims Harold is paying, which ofcourse, isn't true, but this is a good chance for us to look up and see how much property Paris has and his taxes. His statement that we are the 2nd lowest in taxes in the state, the man must be ready for lala land. He also states for Harold to name the lowest counties in the state that he would like to move to so his taxes would be lower. And even gave him free space to put this in. Harold will like that.

And hey Bubba did you notice that since Harold and Sims brought the SPLOST up that Paris has been posing in his free column, SPLOST funds, how much for what and when?? And when Harold informed everybody that he was not in compliance with OCGA laws, that Paris stated in didn't apply to the 2003 SPLOST, he all of a sudden decided to do the right thing!!! Guess he wants that to count for the 4 years he has not posted anything in the legal organ. Surely the people can read between the lines, and see that Paris will only post when caught. What else has he done and hasn't been caught?

I see the commisar in his free column and my free edition of the sorry NGN is still lying to the good people of Union County.
He continues to insist the present splost started in 2003 when everyone with any lick of sense (this excludes the Ape) knows it stated in 2004 and ends in 2009, a five year splost.
Looks like it's gonna take a writ of mandamus to get this commisar to obey the laws of Georgia.

Paris revealed in his free article of the sorry NGN the courthouse addition was over $7 million dollars. The original estimate was a little over $4 million dollars.
This reveals the irresponsibility of this Commissioner and his Incapability of managing county affairs. The man simply CANNOT manage a budget unless he has a few million dollars extra to make up for his mistakes and the foolish choices he makes in regards to paying outlandish prices for everything he buys for County use.
This commisar is irresponsible, mis-manages county funds, and wastes hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The commisar also acknowledged he failed in remodeling the Library and says the funds were not there. I guess not after overpaying nearly $3 million on the courthouse addition.
He also acknowledged the failure of the building of the community center and goes on and blames the School Board. It was only a matter of time until the commisar placed the blame elsewhere because like the Clinton's, when things go wrong point the finger at someone else.

Bubba, I pray it will happen, but when the filing for the writ happens, the judge will just pick up the phone and call Lamar and they'll work something out, like more time, he didn't know ..................oh well.........................

I read Lamar's not so clever campaign add in the fish wrapper where he tries to discredit Harold and the taxes he pays. I hope everyone sees it as I have. That was the most evil, unfeeling, sleaziest attack on a fellow human being that I have ever seen. Who does he think he is going to win over with that kind of garbage?
First of all it proves to me Harold didn't take advantage of the taxpayers and enrich himself and his friends like what is going on now. He doesn't have to camouflage all his holding in dummy corporations so people won't know he is a land developer using the taxpayers money to increase his land values. Harold's parents were both humble and honest and Harold came up like most of the people in this county "The Hard Way."
Harold has four things going for him as far as taxes. He has a small house, he is 70 years old, he has his land in a legal covenant and he got a legal rebate from the state. NONE of these advantages came from Lamar's generosity.
He sure wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth to parents that had already figured out how to take advantage of their fellow citizens before he was born. Harold understands what it is to struggle to stay ahead like most of the working people in the County.
For sure Lamar never wanted for anything with his airplanes, fancy golf carts, ski trips and fancy vacations with the elite. Why doesn't Lamar put a list of his land holdings and especially his fancy house on the river in that space he left in that add? Come to think of it they wouldn't all fit in that small space.
Hope your nastiness causes you to be dumped in Nov.

For Liesomemore to have fully complied with disclosure (splost) he should have stated how much the project was supposed to have cost, then shown how much it did. Of course he couldn't do that, the black and white of it would hang him!!

Bubba, your random ramblings sound like the delusions of a crazy man. Either that or your thoughts are chemically induced. The problem I have with your statistics is your attempt to persuade the people with stupid statistical comparisons (per capita when a simple formula using millage rate to compare comparable property in another county will suffice). What amazes me is you expect the intelligent citizens of Union County to believe your stupid comparisons. I have no problems with legitimate use of statistical analysis.
Why don't you Republicans take your big old brain power and offer some solutions? Any fool can describe problems. That is the problem I have with Harold Cook. For example, Harold Cook seems more interested in making the bank executives richer. I keep hearing he had $3-M in the bank when Lamar took over. Is hording tax payers money being fiscally responsible? I think NOT!!!
I'm for using our tax money for Union County; not for rich bankers using our money. That sucks a big one. I am not for sticking $3-million in the bank to earn interest when the money could be used for road maintenance or other essential services. Yes, there should be emergency reserves, but hoarding taxpayers money in excess has no value if it is not used for essential services.
Another problem I have is half-facts of the Republican party in Union County is, as follows: IMHO, whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters. I do not trust those who try to insult the intelligence of the voters of Union County. Furthermore, given the choice between Harold Cook and Lamar Paris, I will vote for the one who has done the most good for Union County.
