Is there not anyone who would donate use of some property for a temporary market on Saturdays?
A empty parking lot or a business that is closed on Saturdays?
It doesn't seem the the county is going to do anything about it.
It's getting to be Spring and soon enough summer.
Murphy allows a free one on the square and so does Hayesville.
Any suggestions???

How about contacting North Georgia Technical College. They built a shelter on the edge of one of the parking lots. I'm not sure they would allow it but it might be worth a try.
Also, there are some people around town who sell from a trailer-stand or out the back of their pickup. You might contact United Community Bank to use their back parking lot. The bank is only open a half day on Saturday.
Going up the 19/129, there is a tomato lady who sells in an empty parking spot.
You might think about the Blairsville flee market. I don't know how much it cost for a table, but maybe a group could rent a spot and distribute the costs.
How about Pappys Flee market on the Gainsville Hwy?
Are you looking to sell your own honey/vegies/rabbits/window painting art/scanner antennas/flowers or thinking about a group effort? It's a good idea. I'll check some of the old Mother Earth News for suggestions / ideas.
I'm out of fresh ideas. ZZZZzzz

Handcrafted items, honey, no livestock. You have to clean up behind them.
Close to town with exposure would be good for passing traffic.
I would hope anyone with veggies and stuff (NOT YARD SALE ITEMS AND JUNK) would participate.
The city of Blairsville has a policy against SELLING anything without a permit. Now you could give it away for a donation or as a fundraiser, but not personal profit.
I don't like the Blairsville Flea Market, not enough exposure to the big road. Pappy's is too far out.
Now, the lower parking lot of the bank would be a good idea.
You want people driving by to see that you have fresh produce and other items and then stop to see what it is.
The new courthouse parking lot would also be goo, becuase they don't do business on Saturday's.
You have contributed some excellent ideas, I shall exalt thee.

Does anyone know who owns the local KFC? The lot behind them and over to the side of the road in the grassy area would be excellent.
Lot's of traffic to see what's going on and I have seen someone selling Dixie Outfitters t-shirt's there before.

Have you thought about the parking lot across from Shoe Factory Rd. They used to hold flea markets there all the time. The lot is empty now. I dont know who owns it though. Sorry

I hadn't even thought of that, excellent location. Now I have to get started trying to figure out who to get permission from.
Thanks Missy

Call Tom Murphy who heads the development authority Honeybee. The old Shoe factory parking lot would also be cool too???

My Grandmother used to put up lots of veggies. Corn, green beans, squash, okra. You name it she put it up. I miss her and her garden. We dont have one because of all the deer around these woods. If you decide to do this Honeybee, please post and let us all know. I would love to come.

Heck no! But I am on vacation next week and plan to pursue it. Everyone keep your finger's crossed. I think a farmer's marker would benefit local buyers and sellers.
