This picture was taken last year. This is my Hampton! So I've been told, she is a "blue heeler" mix of some sort. She is between 4 & 5 years old now.
Sonny & I went to the Grand Canyon for Christmas in 2004 while living in Colorado. We stopped at a "Hampton Inn" in Kayenta, Arizona. A group of about 6 dogs were snooping around the Burger King dumpsters and this one came right over to me! I had nothing to really give her, but managed to scrounge a couple graham crackers to give her. I hate to think of an animal going hungry. We went into the motel with her following us to the door. When I came down about an hour later for a smoke and to get a soda from the truck, there she was!
The next morning, I kinda "snuck out" some leftover sausage and bacon for her in case she was still outside. She was. The next thing I know, Sonny is cleaning out the truck getting a comfortable place for her to ride! She jumped right in and has been such a joy to us.
She wouldn't eat anything other than "people food" when we first got her. I was scared she would starve! She will eat regular dog food now, but still prefers ours.
She is such a sweetie & loves attention! If you tell her to "give me a hug" she will jump into your lap, put her front paws on your shoulders and lay her head down! She travels well and loves to go with me when I go into town. Since moving here, she goes with me more often as her little outside yard can be gotten into by other dogs. Now, every time I get my purse for something, she's standing at the door, tail wagging and ready to go!
