Saturday before last I had all 9 of the kittens at the farmer's Market to give away. A lady walks up to our booth, listening to what I was telling someone about the kittens. In a very rude and demanding voice she asked me;
"What guarantee do you have they the kittens will be spayed or neutered when they are given away?"
I replied " I have no guarantee at all".
She then asked "Have they had their shots?"
I replied "No they haven't, I don't have the money to get the shots for them."
She then asked why I was giving them away. I replied "The mothers are stray's who were set out at my house. No one is going to buy one, so it's either give them away or kill them. I have 2 cat's that have been fixed, I can provide the documentation. I am keeping 2 of the kittens and will be getting them fixed. I live on a road without traffic or neighbors and it is a easy spot for someone to dump animals."
She then said to me "Well I guess I should let you know I am on the Humane Society board. We appreciate what you are doing to help the strays. I will be glad to bring you some food next weekend to the Farmers Market to help you out."
I replied to her " I am on your waiting list at the shelter and I would appreciate the offer of food." I gave her my name and phone number as contact information.
So this past Saturday I show up at the Farmer's Market and was told that the Humane Society people had called the commissioner's office and the county extension office complaining about giving away kittens.
So now you can't do it! You can't give away animals, evidently you can sell them.
Plus she never showed up with the food.
I have a good mind to take them back this week and sell them for 25 cents each and loan them quarters to people.

Nothing at all, just watched TV. Very rare that I am not involved in getting something done. It was pretty nice to take a break.

Checked, fed and watered 2 neighbors animals, the folks are out of town. Put supers on for Sourwood. Fixed steamed shrimp, rice, veggie salad and bread. Fed and watered our critters. Chatted online with some folks. Played 3D Crash. Talked to Sangria and she wanted me to watch a show on the Food Network about Big Island, Hawaii honey and the products it is used in. Dug around for a new book to start.
Tonight it's back to work extracting and bottling. Gotta make a batch of mint soap and Bayberry. My 150 bars are almost gone.

As far as I am concerned they will never get another donation from me. Bee, I just read your story. Any idea who the woman was? Sounds like she is better with animals than with people.

Hey Cabin - I thought I was the only one that kept up with it! I can't wait till next week to see how Phil is doing. Quite a scare for him and his sons -
So, who's your favorite captain? Favorite boat?

Favorite boat? From the way the show ended this week, looks Like Phil won't be coming back this season. It isn't looking good for Phil. It's hard to say cause I enjoy The Hillstrands(Time Bandit) Sig Hansen(Northwestern) and Phil( Cornelia Marie). I guess if I chose one,it would be john Hillstrand(Time Bandit),he cracks me up sometimes.

Well after getting 3 windows prepared for painting and cleaning and "distressing" some others, we cleaned up and headed to Gainesville (Ga not Fl) to see BIL.
Distressing news.
He had 15 blockages. They took a big vein from his chest for one by-pass and another smaller one from his leg for the other by-pass.
The 2 main arteries in his neck are 60% blocked, so he is a stroke candidate along with his diabetes and obesity. They won't do anything about them until they are 80% blocked. I have no idea why?
The arteries on the back of his heart are so full of plaque that when they stuck the needles into them the needles broke off. Nothing they can do about it so they lasered holes in it hoping it will generate new growth.
He has to do a complete 360 on his lifestyle. He will never be a candidate for heart surgery again because of his current health. In others words if he has a heart attack between now and when he loses weight and get's healthy, he is basically screwed no more heart surgery.
There was no heart damage because he didn't have a heart attack. Just everything leading to the heart is damaged.
He has diabetes because of his obesity. He is short and around 300 pounds.
He did not have a heart attack, he went in for gall bladder surgery and the anesthesiologist looked over his records and asked why he never went back to re-do his stress test and he said they told him everything was fine. Last week they sent him to Crawford Long for the radiation dye and that is when they saw the blockages.
I do not understand why people know that they have health problems due to personal choices they have made and refuse to do anything about it. It's like ignore it and it will go away.
I can guarantee he will be booking for disability. He constantly eats fried food and a lot of it. He get's no exercise, he rides everywhere he goes. He has high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and now look at his heart.
He has no choice, he can make a lifestyle change or he will die.
This is the 3rd brother in 8 months to have open heart. Grumpy had a blockage removed over 20 years ago and he was working out and lifting. However, it is a toss up between him and his sister on who will be next.
Their father died Valentines Day 3 years ago, his heart was 95% blocked. Their mother died 18 years ago from an aneurysm to her heart.
