Have any of you noticed how things are slowing down around here? None of the people that Gary works with, seen to have much work to do now.

Gary went to pull a permit yesterday and he asks if she had issued many permits lately? She said they had not had a new house permit in over a month. That is bad!!

Well, we don't have to borrow to build specs, but now we are afraid of using our money to build a spec house when there are just so many of them sitting on the market for sale.

Coosa, I had a realtor tell me he had a couple of offers come in with buyers that had money, but still couldn't get the loans approved. Could be more to the story, but he was quite suprised that they couldn't get the approvals. Also found out that there are a few realtors working at Fatz.

Saw something today that I didn't think I would ever see in this area... a man and woman and 2 kids were standing next to a pickup truck on the Murphy Hwy a couple miles before the 4 lane... one of the little kids was holding a sign "will work for food." I have seen street people in FL like that, but never saw anyone in this area before. I felt so sorry for those kids.

I used to see people in Atlanta that did that then I learned that all they really wanted the money for was drugs. I have heard stories about people going and buying food for them and they would just throw it on the ground.

One of the Atlanta networks did a piece on a guy that stood at the top of an exit ramp with a sign saying he'd work for food. They had several different "contractor" look alikes stop and offer him a job. He declined of course, and the camera kept running. Finally the report confronted the man and as it turns out he was making in the neighborhood of $400 per day in donations.
