It is definitely a buyers market!

There are 638 homes in Union county for sale. There is not much use in starting another spec house until some of these houses sell. There sure is a lot of rentals now! When I was building our house, I could not find anyone to rent to me because of the killer poodle.

Somebody asks Gary for work every day. He was just walking into Home depot yesterday when a stranger asked him for work. I think the work this year will be in repairing all these houses that were not built correctly. He has already taken on two more houses that are falling down and dangerous! He is scared to even walk out on the deck! Nothing is holding them up. Sangria knows what I am talking about, because that is the way her new house was.

My deck wasn't falling down, but that is one of the phobias I have; a deck that falls off the house! I have had extra reinforcements and some repairs done on mine so now I feel a little safer when I do use it!

Sad about people losing their jobs, I do feel sorry for them and am thankful I have a good one.
I have been looking to invest in a small piece of land with a creek on it. Not to build on, just to have a place to put the camper and retreat to. Possibly back in the mountains somewhere. Let me know if ya'll come across any cheap.

Yes, Coosa we seem to get calls almost every day. We have had people coming into the office and when I'm alone sometimes I get frightened since my office is on 515. It bothered me more when all those bank robberies were going on. We have hired a couple of guys to help them out, but they would call up at the last minute saying they couldn't work because they were hung over or some other excuse. We are lucky to have some really good help.

Nat, you probably should keep your doors locked and only let in someone with an appointment. We have a framing crew we use, and they have nothing going on right now. We try and use them when we can, but they never put away any money for a "rainy" day. They all have cell phones and go out to lunch everyday. People, we all need to save our money for the slow times we are going to have this year!! Folks still want to move here, but they can't sell their other houses.

Coosa, I have saved lots of money all my life and thankfully I can use it in times like these. Who knows, if things don't pick up soon, I could be coming to Gary for a job too! Only problem is - I don't like to sweat. I'm spoiled and know it.

Heck, Nat, I thought Gary could come to you for a job. He is the best finish carpenter that you have ever seen!! I hope everyone saves their stimulus checks!!

Not me. I'm going to spend it on something frivolous and unnecessary. Have to do something crazy every now and then.

I know, this gas thing is really getting bad. I give Gary an $80 allowance and he pays for his own gas. I had to give him another $20 this morning cause the bell on his van was ringing. I wonder what all these people with subdivisions are going to do. We have dozens of new subdivisions in this area and none of the lots are selling. Maybe land will go back down to a reasonable price??

Heck Coosa, I am one of those "people" with subdivisions. No one is even making offers anymore. If it weren't for our custom jobs I'd be in big trouble.

Some of the prices in those subdivisions are pretty steep! If things ever break loose in Florida, I am sure more of those lots will sell, but until then, developers are up the proverbial sh*t creek without a paddle!

Most of the lots are going for close to $100,000. Gary built a cute ,little 800 square foot house for $65,000! Prices need to come down!! I forgot you have a subdivision, Nat! We were looking last year for a lot for a spec house and could not find anything under $80,000 for just the land.(with some view)
