What exercises can I do at home? My budget is really tight and I cannot afford to join a gym.
Here are some resistance training exercises that you can do using just your own body weight:
1. Pushups- standard, on knees, feet propped up on a chair, leaning on a wall, upper body propped up on a couch, etc. There are even more variations by changing body placement and hand-width. 2. Crunches- feet on floor, lets bent in air, legs straight in air, bicycle crunch, full sit-ups, oblique crunches, plank. 3. Lunges- walking lunges, stationary lunges, side lunges, reverse or front lunges. 4. Squats- feet together, feet shoulder-width, feet wide, back on wall (holding wall sit), holding extra weight (dumbbells, water jugs, etc), one-legged squats (advanced!) 5. Bridges- lie on your back, legs bent, feet on floor. Lift hips toward ceiling, squeezing glutes the whole time. Challenge yourself by keeping one leg up in the air. 6. Cardio- climbing your stairs, running/walking/jogging outside, hiking, jumping rope (or just jumping period), kickboxing routines, fitness videos, biking, etc.
As you can see, there are SO many options you can choose from, even with the smallest amount of resources. All of the exercise demos in the Fitness Resource Center are exercises you can do at home.
Investing a little money in a good resistance band, Swiss ball, and/or pair of hand weights will allow you to do a wide variety of exercises from home.

I looked through and did not see if anybody had posted about it. I love those diet pills you get at diet centers, but is there one closier then Cleveland TN? Yes I know they are not healthy and I do workout hard, but while I am waiting for the VA to get me to the GI to fix my insides, those pills make me not hungry, when I am not hungry I do not eat, when I do not eat I am not hurting.

I used to order diet pills online. Now, I get all these calls from New York & India wanting to refill my prescription! I've seen you betsy, & there's nothing on you that would show your need for any kind of diet pill!

I orderd online one time, when they called I told them that she no longer lived there and not to call back.
I was really tempted to say "Mrs. Cordell died from taking your pills and we have been trying to get in touch with you for a lawsuit" but I never did.

Even though I have absolutely no energy, I went to the gym this morning, I did feel better, but energy level is still really low.
I R TIREDED.
I ate healthy at the hospital yesterday and actually looked at what people were eating.
This is a hospital cafeteria and yes they had veggies and salads but also french fries, hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream and other unhealthy alternatives. I watched 2 overweight women sit down with ther hamburgers loaded, large order of fries and open 2-3 packs of salt and sprinkle over it.
I look over to monitor grumpy's plate and he smiled "I got veggies" he said.
I was just surprised at the eating habits. Yes, I would have loved those fires but I wasn't really attracted to them.
Guess this another check mark for the good on my list of healthy stuff.
I was also surprised at the amount of overweight employees working at the hospital.
I listened to my husbands family talking all of them getting their gall bladders took out and who was next and it really ws discouraging, because most of them could have changed their eating habits and would have been fine. A little mor exercise and better choices would have been better for them to discuss, but I didn't say anything.
I had a granola bar, lemon yogurt, crystal light water and on the way home a cup of fruit.

I had a few fries the other day at Fatz. Bad me, but I haven't eaten any in over a year! Just got my blood work done for my 1.5 year check next week. Having my back problems, I've slacked off on the vitamins & protein, so I'm probably going to get yelled at! eeik!
I don't like going into hospitals & seeing a majority of overweight people, especially Dr's! They aren't setting good examples.

Bee, I had my gall bladder out when I was 18! I was skin and bones but I used to put tons of butter on everything. Those gall bladder attacks were the worst pain I had ever endured.

I see you have a new avitar, cute.
I have had gall bladder attacks also, I know exactly how they feel. Holy cow, like a heart attack. We are still making payments to the ER for grumpy's last attack.
However, my husband's family feel that they can keep on eating what they want becuase they have had their gall bladder out.
I know some people just can't fix it no matter what and they have to have it out.
But I know this group, it's family and it is become a quick solution for them. My sil works in a doctor's office and get's diet pills and always wanitng a quick fix, even hypnosis. But yet she doesn't want to make the healthy food choices that is necessary to facilitate weight loss, straight to the point, she want's to be skinny but she doesn't want to work at it. Eat what she want's, no exercise.
I thin it's ok to eat a couple of fries every now adn then or chocolate or dessert, cause you need to satisfy that want or you ovrdue it. It's a reward. These ladies had a huge pile of them.
OK I seem judgemental, because I am trying to do better, and that is wrong. But a hospital?
They don't want sodas and sweets at the schools, but it's ok to get it at the hospital.
Something is wrong with that.

Yes, I agree about the fat doctors and just can't understand why they sell fried food at hospitals. Luckily, I don't care for french fries but I could live on smashed potatoes. They are my weakness. When I had my gall bladder out, that was the only way to deal with the stones. They didn't have any way of dissolving them back then. I was packed with them, and was jaundiced at age 18. They told me I almost set a record for age but someone beat me to it. I tried the hypnosis thing about two years ago and it worked for a while but it became expensive. SPARK PEOPLE GIRLS! My belly is going down.

Queenbee - you are so right about the hospitals and I never even thought of it! They should be setting an example there for good health. The nutritionist there should push for the elimination of the unhealthy foods.
I cured my husband of high sugar, triglyceride (sp?) and cholesteral (sp?) levels all through diet. That was 3 pills he was going to be given (no insurance - eek!). Who knows what all those pills do to your liver over time!
Anyway, he doesn't miss his old way of eating any more becuase of the way I re-created his meals. I'd love to do it for a living - it's really about understanding the science of food and how it works with your body.
