My whole family goes there (5 of us) for $55 a month, pool, fitness center, kid zone, it is great. Welcome aboard and make sure to do the challenge with us. If you don't have the time or not sure yet if you are serious about the gym, then you might want to start with a home workout plan.
Most gym's make their money when they have you sign a contract and then after a few months you give up or don't have the time, but you still have to pay that monthly fee.
I belong to 2, but only get the opportunity right now to go to one. The one closest to work.
I also recommend joining SPARK people to get more motivated and a customized work out plan for work at home or where ever. It's free and very informative.

I just did 3.5 miles on the treadmill. It helped to watch a movie on my ipod to help pass the time. I'm uploading new movies right now to watch tomorrow.

Dang, why is starting a diet always more stressful than starting a new job. What does everyone recommend, low carb, low calorie, low fat, there is just wat tooooooo many options out there. As for the gym, I thought about getting a personal trainer, I have buldging disks in my lumbar region and my knees sound like an ice crusher when I traverse stairs. Perhaps I'm hopeless and should just enjoy eat drink and be merry until the end.

I personally have always done good on the low-carb/low & no sugar diet. Low fat & fat free are full of sugar & that does your body no good. There was once a time when I thought I'd have to go down the stairs on my butt because I thought my feet would give out from under my big body. Knew then it was time to do something.

Actually you don't have to cut it all out at one time. You have to wean yourself from it. That way you don't crave it and then over indulge and get all blah feeling and mad a at yourself. Start with white foods and work your way from there. White foods are your biggest souce of weight issues. 1 piece at a time. Give it up.

Starting Position Lean against a solid wall, with your feet out in front of you approximately 12 inches and shoulder width apart. Hold dumbbells to your side, palms facing forward.
Action Slowly lower your body from the hips until you reach 90 degrees at the knees. Hold that position. Holding elbows into your body, slowly curl dumbbells upward at the same time. Make sure to keep your shoulders still and just bend at your elbows. Squeeze at the top and return to the starting position. Try doing 2 sets with 10-12 repetitions.
Special Instructions None.
Muscles Worked: Biceps, Quads, Glutes

Saw Cubby at the gym today!
Cubby, that vitamin drink in Vemma. The energy drink is "verve". They are meeting with a taste test on Thursday at Grinds & Glazes at 5pm!

Oh gosh!!! I want to loose weight and tone up. What I would like to loose is roughly 80 pounds, but that is not realistic nor healthy. I would love to loose 50 pounds that would still put me at 15 - 20 pounds over what the dr charts say. It is all just so overwhelming. Getting the family to move forward with me is the next biggest obstacle. Grown children and hubby that all love food as much as I. So they constantly have something delicious in hand and my favorite shows on TV are Top Chef and the Food Network. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!
I think a body transplant would be easier. :}
