Like that will really stop people? They are actually a very reputable store. So don't listen to Godi's wife.

I know these folks, personally. I'm sure you think that good hiking boots are probably bought at Wal-mart. You buy cheap, you get cheap! Mountain Crossings stays within the MSRP on all items, if not lower. Keen shoes are actually lower at this store than they are at REI. If it's such a horid place to shop, then why are they so popular? People have come from Arizona, Illinois, NY to get fitted for packs & boots. For a business that's been there for over 25 years, if the prices are so high, then why are they still there??? Hmmmm, go back to your cheap plastic goods store & leave your garbage in your mouth where it belongs!

HEY! I shop at Wal-Mart. I have a pair of women's work boots I purchased there. I paid $40.00 bucks for and they have outlasted my husbands high end hunting boots.
MSRP is always higher than a typical market up. That's what the manufacturer suggest it sells for, not what you have to sell it for. We sell electronics and never, ever use the MSRP it's to much.
I don't think you should lump all people who shop at Wal-Mart together. I get good buys there and don't have to be a walking billboard for high priced, cheap stuff like Aeropostle and American Eagle. If Old Navy wants to pay me or my daughter to advertise their clothes then we will wear them. Just because you pay more for an item doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
I don't know where this place is ya'll are talking about so I can't comment on it.

ROTFLOL!!! First of all, his wife paid for her own surgery. Second, I really doubt at ALL that you've ever stepped foot into the store.

Obviously someone has a issue with the store.. or the person? I love the store. Very interesting and full of history about this area. The camping essentials are all there with excellent prices. The book section is another area of the store that I love to venture. The books they have about the area is a better display than the one shown by the jealous person who appears to be somewhat juvenile. That may be why they feel the need to try to take away from good people and businesses. They can not mand their own.

I don't think it's an issue with the store, it's with the guy's wife. I'm cordially inviting you to go shopping with me "Boldzilla". It would be fun. You may learn a lot and see the world from a different angle. Thanks Nativelady & Fairydust. Very kind of you. It's all good and heck, it even makes me want to go shopping now. Check out the May issue of Men's journal. Seems that this overpriced store will have an article in it about them!

Is this the one at the top of the Mountain? Top of Blood Mountain?
If so, I thought that the park people owned it, isn't it National Forest land?
Anyway, I haven't been in the store but 2 times, I mostly stop to use the bathroom.

Yes that's the one. The state (dnr) owns the property, but it's leased by Mountain Crossings for the next 15 years! It was a 20 yr contract with them.

I just figured it was like Vogel, where the park runs the store.
WOW! 15 years, that is a long time, for this area. Whoever it is must be a confident person that it will be that good of a business. Guess I will have to stay longer next time we are up that way to see what all the hoo-hah is about. I don't hike, well maybe in my mind I would like to do it and the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, really weak.
See, I learned something new today.
