They are all overworked and underpaid. It is good to see the local police fighting the war on drugs.

I'm hearing more calls everyday go out over the scanner, it looks like our law enforcement is staying pretty busy serving and protecting. Our school superintendent and commissioner could donate enough from their salaries to pay for another 2 deputies and still live comfortably but we know that will never happen. And the Drug Task Force is making new arrests every week with its new leadership. And I can't forget the GBI which is hopefully making a dent in the corruption cases going on.

Looks like there's been more drug arrests this week! Somebody is doing their job, now if they would just go after the big dealers around here instead of the people that do the selling things would really change for the better. Thanks to all law enforcement who are fighting Union County's war on drugs!

We live out in a rural part of the county and I have noticed increased patrols up and down our road. Very unusual unless our neighbors are up to no good again, which they are having their "home remodeled" so they aren't there for awhile.
Lilred notices too because of the GATORS tag on the front of the patrol car. She said that it's the same one that has a kid at the soccer park.
I figure he knows I am a VOLS fan and he is just scoping the competition. I hate it for him this fall, NOT!
Anyway, I wouldn't have the job that the county and city police do, they are good guys and deserve the credit they get.

I was out walking today and a patrol car passed by, evidently the deputy was just patrolling the area. We are blessed to have such a fine police force in our county.

Yes they are great folks and I believe that they deserve to be treated better than some people treat them. I think Union County is blessed to be what it is!

I agree with you there, I know there are a few bad apples in the police dept. but most of them are great guys and will go out of their way to help you. The firefighters are underappreciated also, they put their lives on the line all the time to help the public.

Anyone have any ideas about the nature of the GBI/FBI investigation that led to former Union County Sheriff Stanley Richardson's departure from the jail?
I've heard two rumors, one that it has something to do with improper treatment of inmates at the jail; more recently that it has to do with $140,000 that was stolen from the movie theater. Neither has been confirmed though and it could be something entirely different.

I didn't even know that stanley was still around here, I thought that he had moved to Helen.
