I like the new 10 percent program involving the drug dealers. I wonder if it would really work. Since they have to be convicted, it would take a loooong time to get your money.

I think it'll work, now the drug dealers will start turning each other in. There will be a few people who abuse it though, if they get mad at their neighbors they will call the cops and tell them that they're dealing drugs.

I am for this but I have to wonder if this will tighten the bonds of druggies or will it endanger people who are just out to help clean up the county.. I would hope that the reporting agent would be mums the word on who called in the crimes. I am sure they do not alert who the information came/comes from to the suspects. I think I may have watched Miami Vice too much maybe..
It is good to see the law enforcement making strides to rid the drug problem. Truly, I am proud to see this. WTG

So I have seen items collected in drug bust in the paper.. cars, guns, homes, land, tools.. etc.. These items are being auctioned off ?? Would you buy a car knowing it had drug contents such as meth in it and used as a drug running car? We have bought repossessed vehicles dirt cheap.. hopefully they clean these cars out well.. and the guns hadn't killed anyone.. nor the tools... Kinda just gives me the hibby jibbys.. What if a drug dealer seen someone who bought a car.. and had a vengeance not knowing that the car had been sold.. Ome.. Omy.. I am thinking to Miami Vice on this now aren't I?lol! I think it is great what they are doing with the percentage.. Scott, I do Proud of yuns if you read here!! I just know that there is gonna be some fine kinda automobile or cheap land.. and my lovely husband is gonna want it.. and well.. I will have to have the deputy's go over it all with a fine comb..lol!

Read the legal ads in the NGN, almost every week you'll see where a seizure of cars, guns, and cash was taken from people caught dealing drugs. Does anyone know what happens to the things taken? I've never heard of our local Sheriff having an auction to dispose of this stuff.

Hmmm, this must be working. From what I hear the deal that happened in Towns Co. was because of drug dealing and now some local names are being mentioned. Hopefully the "good ole boys" won't get away with it this time. I applaud the GBI and Appalachian Drug Task Force for their good work.

Wow, theres lots of rumors going around about what happened in Towns Co. Supposedly somebody started naming names and more than 40 people have been arrested or are under investigation. Hopefully justice will be served, too many people have been getting away with this for too long. Maybe our children will see what happens and will think twice before they get involved with drugs.

The drug business in Union/Towns:
Its less about the product; its more about the millions and millions that are laundered from other places. Its more about the way drug-money launderers have become so insanely rich from it that they've used the money to carry on fraud, to influence and circumvent the legal process, and to get away with stealing property from others. Crime built upon crime... Its called "racketeering." Thats the real danger of drugs in Towns/Union/Clay/Cherokee/White/Lumpkin.
Frankly, unless there is a deputy or an HONEST GBI agent (ha!) who started their career with an MBA in Finance instead of a high school diploma or GED, the local deputies don't have the ability to understand much less investigate and prosecute. Even if they did, the judges are loyal, if not dependent upon, money launderers and racketeers.
Thats why the rumor mill started churning lately even though drug arrests are made every day without mention... People want the racketeers out.

You are right. The every day arrests are meaningless. The small time users are targeted while the dealers are ignored. Because of the vast amounts of money involved in the drug trade, things get complicated...

WOW! Could you imagine 10% of a business with extended connections.
I might have to go undercover.

The wise one and Melick are correct.
In the drug business the street guy or "point of sale" an't the place to focus on. They are the "straw men" The bigger fish in the game are the money men, the bankers.
The drug business continues because the big fish, oil the wheels of justice with plenty of dead presidents.
