Should it be taught?
I think so, IF you can find someone to teach it and not preach it. Be open to answers and different opinions. Also, teach different religions and beliefs, not just one.
However, just remember,a s long as there are test in school, there will be prayer in school.

Yes, I think religion should be taught in schools and prayer should be acceptable too.

Religion is probably needed more in schools then anywhere else.
They say the children are our future and right now our future is looking pretty scary.

Remember the days of prayer and Bible reading in school? Then it was of "one accord" there are far too many out there now teaching "false beliefs" that we do not want our children to learn. Everyone is different and everyone is free to choose. But, when we seperate church and state that keeps Mr or Mrs so and so from teaching your child about Jehoviah Witness when your a Baptist or etc. Don't get me wrong I am a strong believer and I also believe in sharing your beliefs. But it's scarey. If it was like it was back in the old day then it wouldn't be a concern. Now..It's a MAJOR concern. The children can have their freedom of religion ins chool with one another. But the teachers cant discuss it with them. But I do know a few who have prayed with and for my kids.

That's why religion should be taught as a subject and they can study ALL the religions. People are scared of the unknown. Just like other things in life, young adults should be able to know all their options and base their choice on their knowledge.
Cults are attractive to kids because they don't know the difference.
We had prayer over the loud speaker and everybody bowed their heads. You were told if you didn't want to pray, that's fine, but be respectful of kids who did want to pray.
Of course, a lot of the kids who were praying were hypocrites then and are still praying hypocrites, as adults. They go to church on Sunday morning and act non-spiritual all week until Sunday rolls around again.
The Bible says that we should act in a way that those who don't know God, would come to know him, because of us.

It should be taught as an elective for students who want it. Trying to completely remove religion (in all forms) from schools sounds like something a communist leader would do.

God has no religion. There is only one truth and many religions.
CHURCH In its most general sense, the religious society founded and established by Jesus Christ, to receive, preserve, and propagate his doctrines and ordinances. A body or community of Christians, united under one form of government by the profession of one faith, and the observance of the same rituals and ceremonies. Black's Law Dictionary 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th eds.
If you teach your children about God and to practice being the CHURCH, then as long as schools have students, God will be in the schools. I can't find the verse, but the Bible says something like where two or more are gathered in the name of the Father, then Christ is in their mist. Parents teach your children to be ministers and lead others to the TRUTH.
