I think the boe with the exception of a couple of members is okay. The one thing that I would change about them is to make all of them nonpartsian, democrat or republican shouldn't be an issue with a school board. It's the superintendent that creates most of the problem. No un-elected official should have the power to impose taxes on property owners!

The Republican and Democratic labels are useful. The one thing they tell at all levels in all parts of the country, is wether the candidate is for big government or small government.

Dear Editor,
What is it about men and women who will raise their fist in anger and spew forth vile epitaphs at the thief who breaks their window, enters their home, and takes their bread and their jewels; these men and women who demand the capture and punishment of these transgressors of their privacy and their sanctuary?
But let their schools be administered by thieves adorned in fine silks and linen with titles after their names, their children taught by thieves in white shirts and ties, their tax money pilfered from the public exchequer by thieves in $400.00 suits or pastors in holy robes, and their most valuable possessions, their right to be heard and their evidence seen in the light of day, trampled into the dust and made as naught by thieves in Black Robes or their neighbors in grand jury assembled, and they raise not a whimper. And all the while, the consorts of these thieves, firmly ensconced in their elected seats of power under the Gold Dome, raise neither finger nor fist nor their voice to protect as they are commanded to do, and as they have sworn to do.
What a wicked and perverse generation has risen up in this land and what lessons shall their progeny learn! For now you are ensnared in a golden cage of your own fashion and design. But the day shall come when there shall be required the sacrifice of martyrs and the blood of tyrants, and that account shall be required of thee for allowing such to need be come to pass.
Yes, we have been admonished to “remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won”, but why is this victory not long lived, what is it about the human spirit, that allows these conditions to become so grave? Could the answer be in the absence of spirit, when men are nothing more than impotent, impudent, and insolent males of a species, abjectly devoid of moral fiber, and women nothing more than mere weakling naves similarly devoid?
Behold, the day of the sheeple! Shorn at will.
And our young men and women in uniform are where? Bleeding and dying for what? And we are honoring that sacrifice, and that of our forefathers, by creating this for them for their return?

I have a question about kids & grades...Is it the teacher not keeping the parent informed about their child not passing or is it the parent not giving a crud? Big girl has a kid in her class that never brings homework back and probably won't be passing 5th grade. It's a shame. I know it's not her teacher because she's a great communicator. (guess I have my answer!) I'm not one of those parents who pushes my child to make A's & B's, but she's never (knock on wood) brought home lower than a B on her report card. If I see on her progress report that she's got a mid-B or low B, I will get her to step it up a notch, or talk to the teacher about what needs to happen to bring it up. I know it's only going to get harder for them, so I worry about these kids who bring home D's & F's and the parents don't seem to give a durn. Give me the paddle!!! If Union County gets a grant for "Hands on Ga", this will help these kids with tutors and for free.

I think in most cases the blame can't be put on the teacher. I don't know if they still have it or not but a few years ago the school system had a site where parents could go to check up on their children's grades and attendance. You're right, some of the parents are busy with their jobs or just don't care about their kids grades. Hopefully we can get that grant, I'm sure lots of the kids would appreciate having a tutor or mentor.

I signed up to be a mentor for the schools, but I started working p/t & had to put it on the back burner. They still have "power school", but I don't think a lot use it. I would hope that if my child was slipping in a subject that she/he would let me know before it was too late.

I will be so glad when we get our school money straightened out and get rid of the crooksWe need to move on to the education of our students. We need to make some changes in the curriculum. Open Letter To Kansas School Board I am writing you with much concern after having read of your hearing to decide whether the alternative theory of Intelligent Design should be taught along with the theory of Evolution. I think we can all agree that it is important for students to hear multiple viewpoints so they can choose for themselves the theory that makes the most sense to them. I am concerned, however, that students will only hear one theory of Intelligent Design. Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. It was He who created all that we see and all that we feel. We feel strongly that the overwhelming scientific evidence pointing towards evolutionary processes is nothing but a coincidence, put in place by Him. It is for this reason that I’m writing you today, to formally request that this alternative theory be taught in your schools, along with the other two theories. In fact, I will go so far as to say, if you do not agree to do this, we will be forced to proceed with legal action. I’m sure you see where we are coming from. If the Intelligent Design theory is not based on faith, but instead another scientific theory, as is claimed, then you must also allow our theory to be taught, as it is also based on science, not on faith. Some find that hard to believe, so it may be helpful to tell you a little more about our beliefs. We have evidence that a Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe. None of us, of course, were around to see it, but we have written accounts of it. We have several lengthy volumes explaining all details of His power. Also, you may be surprised to hear that there are over 10 million of us, and growing. We tend to be very secretive, as many people claim our beliefs are not substantiated by observable evidence. What these people don’t understand is that He built the world to make us think the earth is older than it really is. For example, a scientist may perform a carbon-dating process on an artifact. He finds that approximately 75% of the Carbon-14 has decayed by electron emission to Nitrogen-14, and infers that this artifact is approximately 10,000 years old, as the half-life of Carbon-14 appears to be 5,730 years. But what our scientist does not realize is that every time he makes a measurement, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is there changing the results with His Noodly Appendage. We have numerous texts that describe in detail how this can be possible and the reasons why He does this. He is of course invisible and can pass through normal matter with ease. I’m sure you now realize how important it is that your students are taught this alternate theory. It is absolutely imperative that they realize that observable evidence is at the discretion of a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Furthermore, it is disrespectful to teach our beliefs without wearing His chosen outfit, which of course is full pirate regalia. I cannot stress the importance of this enough, and unfortunately cannot describe in detail why this must be done as I fear this letter is already becoming too long. The concise explanation is that He becomes angry if we don’t. You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature. In conclusion, thank you for taking the time to hear our views and beliefs. I hope I was able to convey the importance of teaching this theory to your students. We will of course be able to train the teachers in this alternate theory. I am eagerly awaiting your response, and hope dearly that no legal action will need to be taken. I think we can all look forward to the time when these three theories are given equal time in our science classrooms across the country, and eventually the world; One third time for Intelligent Design, one third time for Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, and one third time for logical conjecture based on overwhelming observable evidence. Sincerely Yours, Bobby Henderson, concerned citizen. P.S. I have included an artistic drawing of Him creating a mountain, trees, and a midget. Remember, we are all His creatures.

Our students need to be taught about Mitt Romney's Church also. Until I find the time to write some of it out where I can post it, you might want to go ahead and google Mountain Meadows Massacre. It is an eye opener! The story is also found in the United States Congressional record.
On a related matter I got my national representative friend in the congress to get me a microfilm copy from the congressional record of the Jesuit's extreme oath of induction into the Jesuits society. It is sickening! I'll post it for you over in the Catholicism thread if there is any interest?
