Rose- Those who decide how the rest of us are to live, use the price of gas to control the economy. We are just about to go into a world wide economic collapse. Right now gas is cheap cause, they want us to "spend". The decider did as he was told and tried to get control of middle east oil and save our dollar. We an't got Iran yet and we might fail. It's gonna be hell!

Sometimeman, why do you think "Those who decide how the rest of us are to live" want us to go into an economic collapse when they won't gain anything by causing it to happen? I'm not saying you're wrong, I actually kinda sorta agree with you, I'm just wondering.

Yes sir! Mr. Short. Thank you for reading my post. They will gain. Castro eats pretty good. Food for other folk is rationed. Its always that way. The elite stay on top. They "gain"
These folk are "globalist". They aim to unify America, Mexico and Canada. Eventually one government for the world. Sort of like Jessie's "rainbow" we will all be under their umbrella. Liemar too!

Sometimeman, do you even have to bring Lamar's name into the gas topic?

Prices are falling again but probably not for long. The nationwide average is $2.79. People who travel in Kirkwood, CA are paying the most at $4.05 per gallon and people in Laredo, TX are getting a better deal at $2.29 per gallon. www.gaspricewatch.com

We'd better fill up, the latest hurricane is causing refineries to shut down in preparation for it. It probably won't affect the fuel supply at all but you can bet your last dollar that the price will shoot up because of it.

Isn't it amazing how the oil companies use every excuse imaginable to raise gas/oil prices?

I just can't understand how gas that is already in the ground at one price can be raised before the tankers pull into to reload the ground tanks. If it goes in at one price it should stay that price until they refill it.

It doesn't make sense to me either. When the price goes up the station owners make more money because they paid less for the gas that they already have in their tanks. I'd say that when the price drops most of them won't lower their prices until they sell what they have in the ground first though, that way they won't lost any money.

Actually Short, station owners don't really make profit off the gas, they only make profit from what is inside the store. My parents built a station on the Young Harris Hwy you might remember as Roses' Truck Stop, now a Rebel Pantry or Penny something and probably closed.
Gas companies like North Ga Oil come in and put the tanks in the ground and install the pumps and all the accessories and they determine the price. You have to set the price at what they say or they will pull it.
Station owners make their money from what's sold inside the store, that's usually why you see a variety of stuff in there along with the cokes and crackers.
That's why not buying gas on certain doesn't hurt the oil companies because they know you will need gas eventually. However, if you don't buy products from inside the store the owner loses money and the gas comapnies would either have to drop their price or the store will close due to lost income and no gas will be sold at all.

Bee, I don't think I've ever met you but I know your dad and brother fairly well. Your uncle Bud was one of the finest men I have ever met. Some oil companies offer different contracts, most work like you said and pay the station owner a penny or two a gallon and they are responsible for maintaining the pumps but some independent station owners pay for the gas when they deliver it and can sell it for whatever price they want, they usually get a slightly better price on the gas that way but having to write a check for 6,000 gallons of fuel would be pretty tough.
