The average price actually dropped a penny today. OPEC is meeting this week and will likely announce that they will not increase production. Then when the price starts climbing they will blame it on "supply and demand".

The US average has dropped but evidently local gas station owners don't know that. Locally most stations have went up a few cents this week. The cheapest locally that I've seen is $2.66 at the Citgo on Mulky Gap.

$2.65 at Hughes Grocery, I buy 95% of my gas there. Darren is working very hard to make the business work and is doing a dang good job of running the place! The national average of regular has dropped to $2.77 as of today.

Big oil is greedy, no doubt.
And I laugh when I hear the tips about saving gas: Carpool, take rapid transit, walk, ride a bike.
NOT!!!!

In big cities that's all good and well bee, but of course it's a little more difficult around here! It would kill most of us (me included) to have to walk 3-4 miles a day to get to town or to work. I've got an old Honda motorcycle that I'm almost finished work that is going to become my daily driver until the weather gets too cold.

It's in the $2.80's in Murphy and $2.71 in Blue Ridge. I guess we're pretty lucky.

I almost wish I still had my old wood heater. It was a pain to keep a fire going but man could it keep the place nice and warm.

I almost wish I still had my old wood heater. It was a pain to keep a fire going but man could it keep the place nice and warm. not to mention you always had a pot of hot water for coffee and cocoa. you can fry corn bread on top when the power is off, simmer a big ole pot of soup beans or soup...ummmmm!! Yea...I love wood heat. It's an awful lot of work, but you know the old saying "IF IT AIN'T WORTH WORKING FOR IT AIN'T WORTH HAVING!" ;D

Right on pugs, there's nothing better than coming home on a cold day to a good warm wood fire! Oil is on the rise again, it's no coincidence that it's happening right before cold weather comes. The good thing is that forecasters say were in for a warm winter.
