Bee, what does "GMS" soap stand for? I'd be interested in the Mint flavored soap. Hubby has to wash my mouth out ever so often. Also, how much lye do you put in it?

GMS Goats Milk Soap.
I use goats milk instead of water. That way the soap retains the fats from the milk and softens your skin.
All soap, even commercially produced soap (not glycerine soap), is made with lye. You have to use lye to make your liquid and oils mix. When the soap is making and curing the lye evaporates and you are left with soap.
Homemade soap in the old day's was really strong because they didn't get the measurements, of oil, liquid and lye correct, therefore the excess lye was left in the soap.
When measured correctly in mixing there should be no lye in soap. Will get my mint batch started this weekend.
I currently have unscented, rosemary and white pine ready to go.

So when it's ready, do we pick it up at Mountain Java or do I meet you at an undisclosed location?

Nat, I'm glad that you prefer the mint flavor over Lava or Cashmere Bouquet! lol
