That's exactly what hubby, and I, tell the boys. No D's or F's! We tell them that our main concern is that they try their best, and if they are having trouble to let us know, so we can help. But, when they are bucking the system and saying they don't want to do their work, that's not acceptable. Nor is just scribbling on the paper to get by. If you try, come what may, but at least you try. I agree that the A's don't bring the check! I graduated, with honors, from both high school and college and look at me now! LOL!

Ummmm, I have 3 that excel in school and do well................then I have a middle schooler. My uncle told him that he'd give him $20.00 for each A he got on his report card. My middle schooler replied to my uncle "I'd make more money if you'd give me $20.00 for each F!!!!!! Well the sad part is, this year it's about true. He hasn't made F's, but we've struggled just to get C's!! He's the sweetest kid on earth and I hate to see him struggle, but I just about beat my head on the wall every night at homework time! I just don't know what to do!

Beebop, your middleschooler sounds just like my son that graduated last year, by the hair on his behind. He is such a sweet, smart boy, give you the shirt off his back, but studious he is not. I felt like that I had attended school twice in my life with him. He is attending local college that he has to pay for himself, cause he's got no scholarships. Maybe he will appreciate his education more if he has to pay for it, cause he sure didn't appreciate it when it was free!
Little Princess, my 8th grader, now she's a good student. I don't have to get after her to do her homework, and she is an honor student. She will have a choice of college.
