Ron Paul Collecting Fans, Big Money Nov 15, 6:04 AM (ET) By CHARLES BABINGTON WASHINGTON (AP) - Those who dismissed Rep. Ron Paul as a joke in the Republican presidential primary campaign aren't laughing so hard these days. The Texas libertarian's rise in the polls and in fundraising proves that a small but passionate number of Americans can be drawn to an advocate of unorthodox proposals such as returning to the gold standard and abolishing the income tax, CIA and Federal Reserve. Paul, 72, recently set a one-day, online GOP presidential fundraising record, and pulled slightly ahead of Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee in a New Hampshire poll, where he had 8 percent of the Republicans' support. In Iowa, he tied John McCain for fifth place, with 4 percent each. Paul remains a very long shot for the nomination. But as the only Republican candidate backing a prompt troop withdrawal from Iraq - and an airing of possible impeachment charges against Vice President Dick Cheney - he appeals to a mix of liberals and conservatives who feel alienated and deeply distrustful of the government. (AP) In this photo provided by CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, appears on... Full Image "Where the extreme left and the extreme right meet, you'll find Ron Paul," said Merle Black, an Emory University political scientist and co-author of the book "Divided America." "He strikes a chord with some segments of the population," especially with his quixotic, uncompromising style, Black said. "But there's a pretty low ceiling in terms of his actual vote." Paul, who earned a medical degree from Duke University and embraces the nickname "Dr. No," often casts the only House vote against proposals he sees as too meddlesome or unworthy of taxpayers' money. In recent months he was the only House member to oppose an expression of support for Northern Ireland's new power-sharing government, a condemnation of "the persecution of labor rights advocates in Iran" and a statement citing the importance of "providing a voice" for relatives of Americans who have vanished. He was one of two Republicans to vote against funding the Defense Department in 2008, and against urging the release of Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. (AP) In this photo provided by CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, appears on... Full Image Paul is Congress' most prominent advocate of returning to the gold standard, which the country abandoned in the 1930s. In its purest form it would mean that all paper currency in circulation could be redeemed for gold. Supporters say the gold standard would curb inflation and boost confidence in the economy. But others say it would trigger severe recessions because the Federal Reserve could no longer manage the money supply in times of economic weakness. For that matter, Paul would eliminate the Fed altogether as an impediment to free markets. Paul breezily talks of eliminating the personal income tax, saying it provides about 40 percent of federal revenues, which spending cuts could absorb. The government's funding level would approximate that of 2000, he says, although government statistics put the figure closer to 1995. In a phone interview Wednesday, Paul said he is inching up in the polls "because more people have heard the message." (AP) In this photo provided by CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, appears on... Full Image He said he was stunned when supporters raised $4.2 million for him on Nov. 5, mostly through the Internet. It broke Mitt Romney's one-day fundraising record, $3.1 million, for Republican presidential candidates. "Something is going on," Paul said. "It's all spontaneous," he said, and reflects a hunger for smaller government, greater adherence to the Constitution and "a pro-American foreign policy." Paul said the United States should leave the United Nations. "I don't like giving up our national sovereignty," he said. The government should gather intelligence, he said, but dismantle the CIA, which he accused of blunders and abuses of power. Democratic-drafted charges that could lead to a House impeachment vote against Cheney, Paul said, deserve careful deliberations by congressional committees. (AP) In this photo provided by CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, appears on... Full Image Presidential debate moderators typically pay scant attention to Paul and two other House members seen as fringe candidates. But he has triggered some crackling exchanges on the Iraq war, unusual for primary campaign debates in which most candidates hold similar views. At a mid-May debate in South Carolina, Paul infuriated Rudy Giuliani and others by saying U.S. troops' presence in Saudi Arabia contributed to al-Qaida's decision to attack the United States on Sept. 11, 2001. "If we think that we can do what we want around the world and not incite hatred, then we have a problem," Paul said. "They don't come here to attack us because we're rich and we're free. They come and they attack us because we're over there." Many Republicans condemned the remarks. But Paul's supporters rhapsodize about his candor and integrity on Web sites and at "meet ups." "We didn't really believe we could find an honest politician," said Cecelia Poole of Elkton, Md., describing how she and her husband intensely researched Paul's record. First drawn to Paul's hardline stance against illegal immigration, Poole said she found herself agreeing with him on monetary policy, the war and other issues. "He would turn this country around in the way that it needs to go," said Poole, a semiretired mortgage broker. She and her husband now travel to several states, she said, "promoting him everywhere we go."

Justin, Thank you for this post. It's like that saying, "Two men looked out through prison bars. One saw mud, the other saw stars".
I don't know which way you're looking brother, but I see Ron Paul as the ONLY answer to, "the lessor of two evils" Ron Paul is the only star on the horizon. Ron Paul is the HOPE for America.

Oh! Please read the whole article. Why Not Ron Paul? By Karin Friedemann 11-16-7 Does America have a future? Unfortunately we don't have a lot of choices here. You want Rudy Giuliani, who dressed up as a woman and marched in the gay pride parade, and who has been profiteering off 9/11, or you want Hillary, who strongly supported the genocidal sanctions against Iraqi children while she was First Lady? Both of them have promised AIPAC to bomb Iran. Also, Obama is influenced by AIPAC rest of it>> www.rense.com/general79/rrrp.htm

Are Ron Paul Supporters “Constitutional Terrorists”? Published on Sunday, November 18, 2007.
By Kurt Nimmo In the wake of Glenn Beck calling Ron Paul supporters “terrorists,” we should remember that the FBI—at least the FBI’s Phoenix anti-terrorism task force—believes those of us who support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are terrorists. “A disturbing flyer purportedly authored by the FBI’s Phoenix anti-terrorism task force has been circulating in the conservative community. The flyer instructs the reader to report as a possible terrorist anyone who asks why they were stopped by police or anyone who dares to defend “the U.S. Constitution against federal [sic] government,’” Declan McCullagh wrote back in November, 2001.
So I gave the FBI field office a call. FBI spokesman Ed Hall confirmed the flyer was produced by the joint anti-terrorism task force in Phoenix. But he said it dealt with domestic terrorism: “That flyer was put out two years ago. Someone picked it up, and put it on the Internet like it was put out this week.”
Hall admitted the section that said anyone spotting a defender of the U.S. Constitution “should call the Joint Terrorism Task Force” was perhaps a tiny bit ill-advised. “It could have been a bit better foundation worded saying you’re not a right-wing extremist if you defend the Constitution… or if you ask a police officer why they’re stopping you. There’s some misinterpretation there.”
He added: “Not that a person who defends the Constitution is a criminal or terrorist, or a person who askes you, ‘Why did you stop me’ may be a terrorist, but certain things, I don’t want to use the word common, certain characteristics that these people who were legitimately investigated reflect it.”
Is it possible the FBI considered its COINTELPRO “a tiny bit ill-advised” and that’s why it went on, undiscovered and uninterrupted, for decades, destroying countless lives, including the actress Jean Seeberg and any number of less famous activists?
In fact, the brochure in question is quite explicit and reading it leaves little room for “misinterpretation.”
Al Lorentz, chairman of the Constitution Party of Texas, writes:
Many of you have no doubt heard of the FBI’s pamphlet on identifying domestic terrorism. Perhaps you saw as I did the black and white copies floating around but wondered if these were simply manufactured on someone’s personal computer. I frankly thought the same when I first saw them and so I wrote to the FBI’s office in Phoenix and received an anonymous and official reply from a nameless individual there.
The tone of the letter I received back was both officious and rude. “Yes” the brochure was printed by them but it went on to explain “the general public was not supposed to see it”. I wonder if that would be a defense to a traffic ticket “Yes officer, I was speeding but you weren’t supposed to see me”.
The letter also went on to assure me that the brochures were never in fact distributed even though I and hundreds of others have seen them which begs the question: “How did I get a copy of this brochure?”
Now a color copy has surfaced and we have it here for all to see. We ask that instead of copying the picture, you distribute a link to the page because we want to make people aware of more than just the brochure, we want to make them aware that there is a political party that is legitimate with a long history that is not only aware, it is doing something. In addition to this brochure, those who receive the link from you will also find a website that is dedicated to the preservation of our Constitutional Republic and provides insight, commentary and resources to that cause.
Follow this link to see a reproduction of the color brochure.
Indeed, it appears the FBI campaign against “Constitutional terrorists” has gone prime-time—from the Joint Terrorism Task Force to corporate media neocon shills such as Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, the latter who wants to lock up “leftist loons” in opposition to the occupation of Iraq, including filmmaker Brian DePalma and billionaire Mark Cuban.
Finally, it is likely no coincidence O’Reilly characterizes his enemies as “loons,” a noun defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as follows: “One who is crazy or deranged.” And “liberal” Bill Mahr believes those who talk about reality—Building 7 was not brought down by fire alone—are in need of Paxil.
Recall Bush’s “New Freedom Initiative,” a blatant violation of the Fourth and Tenth Amendments, designed not only to test children for inappropriate thoughts—for instance, thoughts inculcated by home schooling parents—but potential dissidents as well. “It will also help the fascists who are controlling our government to keep our dissidents and independent thinkers under chemical restraints just like they’ve done to so many children in foster incarceration facilities,” explains the Fight CPS website. “It will help them break down the will and autonomy of the population, forcing more beautiful souls to become mindless, over-medicated sheep.”
As Dr. Rima Laibow notes in the film “One Nation Under Siege,” it is a distinct possibility the government may one day forcibly medicate the “politically insane,” for their own good as well as society. Bill O’Reilly’s task is to prepare for this possibility right out of the Soviet Union—where dissidents and other “socially undesirable people” were sent to Psikhushka psychiatric-prisons.
But then, as the United States increasingly resembles the Soviet Union, this development is to be expected. After all, former Stasi chief Markus Wolfe and former head of the KGB General Yevgeni Primakov were hired by the Ministry of Homeland Security for a specific reason.

Ron Paul wins Latest Zogby PollRon Paul has won the latest nationwide Zogby Phone poll. Based on the tabular data provided by Zogby, Ron Paul took the top spot with a commanding 32.8%. Respondents were provided with descriptions of four different candidates and asked to choose who they would vote for based on each one’s attributes and political platform. 1009 people took part in the poll taken from two different categories of age groups consisting of 4 and 5 different age ranges. This methodology provides an overall view representative of all voters in America and based on a non-bias, three-question set and the typical scientific polling methodology of sampling, interviewing, weighting and sampling error, or margin of error. Over 70% of respondents reported that they do not use YouTube, Facebook or MySpace, suggesting that this is not the ‘Internet-sensation’ crowd so often reported as Paul’s base of support. The demographics show strong and balanced support in both rural and urban areas and in all age groups. more... truthseeds.org/2007/11/19/ron-paul-wins-latest-zogby-poll/

And that is exactly how Americans are reacting. He won the Republican presidential candidates' debate in Dearborn, Michigan on 9 October with 74% of votes cast. He went on to win the Orlando, Florida debate with 34%. As one observer put it, "Ron Paul won the Republican debate last week largely because he didn't come across as just another dumb old white guy." "70% of Americans want war over with and are sick and tired of big government at home and overseas. They want their civil liberties and don't want the government to spend endlessly and bankrupt us," Paul confidently argued there. If there is any democracy left at all in the US, he should continue to gain momentum, be crowned the official Republican candidate and go on to win the presidency with a landslide. His greatest liability at this point is the horror of the powers-that-be and the continued media blackout about him. www.rense.com/general79/diday.htm

Zogby Spins Poll Results To Marginalize Ron Paul Published on Tuesday, November 20, 2007.
Source: Propganda Matrix - Paul Joseph Watson
In their press release about the results of a new telephone poll, Zogby chose to marginalize Ron Paul by highlighting a demographic that was won by Rudy Giuliani, while largely ignoring the fact that the Texas Congressman completely dominated almost every other aspect of the poll.
Under the headline Giuliani Leads Among Republicans in Latest Blind Bio Survey, the Zogby press release reads, "Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, long the favorite in nationwide samples of likely Republican voters in the 2008 race for the party's presidential nomination, has the strongest resume of four top contenders, a new Zogby International survey shows."
"The telephone survey, known as a “blind bio” poll because likely voters are given details of the candidates’ resumes without their names attached, shows Giuliani wins 34% support, compared to 22% each for Thompson and Romney. Ron Paul, who has surged recently in polls and has a significant online following, came in last with 13% support, while 9% said they were undecided on the question." Only at the end of the article does the Zogby statement admit, "The blind bio question was also posed to a larger pool of 1,009 likely voters nationwide, including Democrats and independents, and Paul was the big winner among that universe of voters, winning 33%, compared to 19% for Giuliani, 15% for Romney, and 13% for Thompson." Zogby's focus on Giuliani's success in one demographic is completely misleading and obfuscates the fact that Ron Paul won 90% of the categories in the survey. The fact that the headline of the press release trumpeted Giuliani, who distantly lags behind the Congressman in nearly all the key demographics, is a clear case of total spin.
Ron Paul dominated categories where the sample was both traditionally Republican and Democrat voters. Voters were asked which platform they favored - candidates A and D were Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani respectively, but they were not directly named.
Amongst born again Christians, Ron Paul polled at 29.6 per cent, with Giuliani garnering just 22.5 per cent.
Amongst people with military in their families, 33.3 per cent supported Paul's platform, with 18 per cent supporting Giuliani.
Amongst NASCAR fans, Ron Paul polled at 32.5 per cent, beating Giuliani's 28 per cent.
Amongst women, 34.7 per cent favored Paul's platform over Giuliani's 17 per cent.
Amongst African-Americans, Paul trounced Giuliani, 40.5 per cent to Giuliani's 9.1 per cent.
Ron Paul's sweep in all these categories and many more was clearly the biggest story to come out of this poll, yet Zogby chose to highlight Giuliani's rare success.
There is no doubt that Giuliani beats Paul on name recognition alone, but the fact that the Congressman is surging ahead and gaining momentum, while capturing the sentiment of the nation, was the biggest story to come out of this poll - but Zogby chose to stifle it - proving once again that the self-fulfilling media obsession with relentlessly focusing on establishment approved candidates while marginalizing others only upholds the status quo and hurts the democratic process.

The Political Earthquake
by Kyle Hunt
There is a monumental shift taking place in the United States of America, of which you are well aware. Its effects have been felt throughout the world. The tectonic plates of public opinion are resettling and causing earthquakes all across the country. I have seen and felt some of the shock waves. This rumbling of which I speak is of course the Ron Paul Revolution. It is not just the presidential candidacy of Ron Paul, though. It is a mass awakening of a long silent populace. An eclectic group of people who see the good doctor as the embodiment of their country's past greatness. He is also their beacon of hope for the future shining to them from a Washington that has long since been clouded and obscured by the pollution of corruption and greed.
I work in Silicon Valley and get paid to sit in front of a computer all day. I search and sort through masses of information and in my free time like to keep a finger on the pulse of the country. I first noticed something odd coursing through the veins of the United States after Dr. Paul's performance at the first Republican debate. Not many people in this country actually saw it live, but I assume anyone who did noticed this infusion of adrenaline into the political discourse. Everyone in the mainstream media claimed that Dr. Paul had a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Republican primaries, let alone the general election. However, that little snowball kept rolling, picking up speed and has resulted in the avalanche that we see before us. The country is gradually turning off the loudspeakers of the government, who were once considered to be journalists and commentators, and tuning into the message of Dr. Paul.
I have been following this campaign very closely since I first took notice of Dr. Paul. His message of freedom and liberty awakened something alive within me which had lain dormant for so long. As so many signs state, "Dr. Paul Cured My Apathy." I was never shocked to learn of new successes for Dr. Paul. In fact, everything that has happened thus far has seemed to be pretty obvious and inevitable.
Dr. Paul will continue to get big-time endorsements. Barry Goldwater, Jr., was an important one, but there will be many more to come. The consciences' of the elected will prevail. They are not all dumb men and some will swallow their pride for a moment to come out on the side of truth. More celebrities and musicians will continue to come out for Dr. Paul. Not just John Mayer arguing with Justin Long (that Apple guy). Smart people will continue to support the campaign financially, as they realize it is a very good investment. The effect of one such effort was seen today by millions of people as they traveled.
Crowds will get larger and larger. 5,000 people in Philadelphia was impressive, but that will be easily surpassed by some of the rallies that will be held in the future, with masses upon masses of all parts of the country coming together to hear one man speak. They will be bringing friends and family. Some people claim that there is a cap on Dr. Paul's support. They think that his campaign is like a wildfire, which can be contained; only moving so fast and so far. This is dead wrong. People have become dried up from the tired rhetoric, blatant liars, endless wars, increasing taxes, and decreasing civil liberties. The populace has become kindling and this wildfire, which is being blown around quicker than anyone can imagine because the Internet has enabled truth to be available to anyone with a mind to seek it. It will not be stamped out and the people will not lose their will as the ridiculous attacks against Dr. Paul continue and get much worse. It seems mud does not stick to a man with impeccable and enlightened morals, values, ethics, ideas and a record to prove it.
The campaign’s goal for Q4 of $12 million will be blown out of the water. This is obvious. Dr. Paul will already have over $12 million banked before the Boston Tea Party of 2007. As for the amount raised during that celebration of liberty, it will make fundraising history. By the end of the quarter, Dr. Paul will have raised well over $20 million in just 3 months, utterly embarrassing the rest of the Republican candidates.
People who support Dr. Paul have fire in their bellies, which will bring them to them out in large numbers in the cold winter to support their man in the primaries. The other Republican candidates might gather some pretty large numbers in a few states, but there will only be one man with consistent and impassioned support all throughout the country.
Given the choice between Dr. Paul and any of the Democratic "front-runners," the people of the United States of America would choose Dr. Paul. No one wants war once he realizes that no one is truly at war against him. Dr. Paul offers a clear alternative. People will make the right choice IF they are given a choice.
There are big things happening in this world of ours. I am excited to be observing such a pivotal point in history and I am glad that there are people in this world that give me cause for optimism. The world is ready for some revolutionary thinking.

True Names Of The Two US Political Parties Dick Eastman olfriend@nwinfo.net 11-25-7
Here are the true names of the two political parties running major candidates in the US presidential election. The first is AIPAC, running thirteen candidates, all representing the ruling minority. The second is Ron Paul, running one candidate and representing everybody else. (And the AIPAC side cheats.) If I was for Ron Paul, I would use this approach. Dick Eastman

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA—Republican presidential candidate and 10-term Texas Congressman Ron Paul has been honored by GQ magazine as one of its men of the year. Distinguished as “Dark Horse of the Year” among a small and select group of 38 entertainers, athletes, politicians, and other icons, Congressman Paul is the sole 2008 presidential candidate to have been selected.
“Dr. Paul is humbled and honored to be chosen as a ‘man of the year,’” said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. “According to GQ, Dr. Paul is the dark horse to win the presidency, and with support steadily rising each day, we are moving closer to winning the Republican Party nomination.”
GQ, or Gentlemen’s Quarterly magazine, is a leading men’s general interest magazine, published by Conde Nast Publications. The 12th annual “Men of the Year” issue will be available at newsstands on November 27, 2007.

How could anybody NOT vote for Ron Paul after reading this:
Privacy and Personal Liberty The biggest threat to your privacy is the government. We must drastically limit the ability of government to collect and store data regarding citizens’ personal matters.
We must stop the move toward a national ID card system. All states are preparing to issue new driver’s licenses embedded with “standard identifier” data — a national ID. A national ID with new tracking technologies means we’re heading into an Orwellian world of no privacy. I voted against the Real ID Act in March of 2005.
To date, the privacy focus has been on identity theft. It was Congress that created this danger by mandating use of the standard identifier (currently your SSN) in the private sector. For example, banks use SSNs as customer account identifiers because the government requires it.
We must also protect medical privacy. Right now, you’re vulnerable. Under so-called “medical privacy protection” rules, insurance companies and other entities have access to your personal medical information.
Financial privacy? Right now depositing $10,000 or more in cash in your local bank account will generate a federally-mandated report to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at the United States Department of the Treasury.
And then there’s the so-called Patriot Act. As originally proposed, it:
Expanded the federal government's ability to use wiretaps without judicial oversight; Allowed nationwide search warrants non-specific to any given location, nor subject to any local judicial oversight; Made it far easier for the government to monitor private internet usage; Authorized “sneak and peek” warrants enabling federal authorities to search a person’s home, office, or personal property without that person’s knowledge; and Required libraries and bookstores to turn over records of books read by their patrons. I have fought this fight for many years. I sponsored a bill to overturn the Patriot Act and have won some victories, but today the threat to your liberty and privacy is very real. We need leadership at the top that will prevent Washington from centralizing power and private data about our lives.
