U.S. asks Israel to extradite ultra-Orthodox Jew accused of child abuse

The U.S. Justice Department has asked Israel to facilitate the extradition of an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man suspected of raping and sexually abusing dozens of boys.

Avrohom Mondrowitz was investigated by the New York Police Department in the 1980s and was indicted for sex crimes against four boys in Brooklyn, N.Y., but fled to Israel before he could be arrested.

According to witness reports, 60-year-old Mondrowitz, a married father of seven, would pose as a psychologist specializing in the treatment of children that suffered sexual abuse.

Mondrowitz currently resides in Jerusalem. Over the years he has worked in several educational institutions, but he is now unemployed, and allegedly supports himself by selling forged academic degrees.

A month ago, police summoned him for an interrogation over Web sites that he had visited, and then released him on conditions.

Mondrowitz refused to answer questions regarding the allegations against him.

PARIS (AFP-EJP)---A 38-year-old French chemical engineer was sentenced this week to one year in prison and fined 10,000 euros (14,600 dollars) for denying the Holocaust.

Vincent Reynouard was convicted by a criminal court in Salerne, eastern France, for writing a 16-page pamphlet in 2005 entitled "Holocaust? The Hidden Facts.

The work sent to museums and city halls across France described as "an old propaganda theme" the death of six million Jews during World War II, saying such an extermination was "impossible."

It was the heaviest sentence handed down to date for Holocaust denial in France.

He will have to pay 3,300 euros of damages to the plaintiffs.

Reynouard, who is today unemployed and lives in Belgium, was absent for the reading of the sentence.

The court did not called for his immediate arrest. His lawyer, Eric Delcroix, said he was appealing the judgement which suspends its execution automatically.

The lawyer added that his client "received this judgement with serenity and without illusion."

"The countries of the European Union are sinking into the suppression of freedom of opinion. We are not a free country anymore", he commented.

The condemnation is consistent with the charges of the public prosecutor calling Reynouard’s writings "insulting and hurtful for the community of citizens and not only for the victims."

A judicial inquiry had been opened against Reynouard after several people who received his pamphlet expressed shock at the author’s statements.

Holocaust Survivors

Dear Sir -

In this brief note I will describe a mathematical method that I have used to determine the number of holocaust survivors who were alive immediately after the war in 1945.5.

My calculations are totally based on mathematics and a report of Professor Sergio Dellapergola, Head, Division of Jewish Demography and Statistics of the A. Harmen Institute of the Contemporary Jewry, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

In his report, Professor Dellapergola informs us of two major facts according to his study: 1. the number of Jewish holocaust survivors alive World Wide in 2003 was 1,092,000 and 2. a table that gives us the number of holocaust survivors in Israel who are alive, or expected to be alive, in the years from 2002 to 2020.

I entered his data from the table in my calculator and I used second degree regression analysis. I found the number of Jewish survivors living in Israel in 2003, to have come originally from a 1945.5 group of survivors, numbered 1,586,300.

I then used this number, the number of known world wide survivors, and the number of survivors alive in Israel in 2003 and a simple ratio to calculate the total number of holocaust survivors (alive) in 1945.5.

I thus created two equal fractions, a ratio: the number of holocaust survivors alive living in Israel in 2003 over the number of these soon to be Israeli survivors who were alive in 1945.5 = to the number of total holocaust survivors alive world wide in 2003 over the total number of holocaust survivors alive in 1945.5.

I used the Professor's numbers and this new ratio 265,000/1,586,300=1,092,000/x, where x is the total number of holocaust survivors alive in 1945.5, to find x.

I found the total number of holocaust survivors alive in 1945.5, x, to be about 6,540,000.

I think this number will surprise some people who have been trained to believe that the Nazis killed almost every Jew in Europe except for the relatively few who escaped to Israel.

A Lack of Trust

In the 1990-1991 Gulf war the United States refused to provide Israel with the daily electronic 'friend or foe' code used by U.S. and other coalition aircraft flying over Iraq. The reason was that U.S. commanders didn't trust Israel to refrain from settling its own scores with Iraq and thus breaking up the 35-nation coalition put together by the United States and its Arab allies.

For further understanding of American media protection of Israel, the 'memory hole' described by author and social critic George Orwell in his futuristic novel 1984 might be linked to the 'opposite test.' Historians know that Israel attacked the USS Liberty in 1967, killing 34 Americans and wounding 171. Historians also know that Israeli agents firebombed American diplomatic and cultural missions in Cairo and Alexandria in 1954 in the infamous "Lavon Affair" (named after Israeli Defense Minister Pinhas Lavon), to make it falsely appear that Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser was the culprit. But these and other such incidents that reflect unfavorably on Israel's value as an 'ally' have disappeared down the 'memory hole' of the U.S. media.

In fact, U.S. media protection of Israel goes beyond either the 'opposite test'' or the 'memory hole.' It has reached the 'it never happened' level, based upon the dictum that if something isn't reported in the American media, it's not reality. Thus an event the U.S. media doesn't report becomes a non-event, and partisans of Israel get away with branding any account of such an event a lie. Thus American public opinion is manipulated to Israel's benefit, not by the Israeli media but by ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, National Public Radio and, to only a slightly lesser extent, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and other national dailies which once were called America's 'newspapers of record.'

Think about this when you read or hear about the next great victory for Middle East peace. And then apply the 'opposite test.'

Now, 40 years later, I am here to tell the story of what happened on June 8th, 1967 to nearly 300 American boys on board a ship known as the USS Liberty when it was attacked by Israel for nearly 2 hours. People may dismiss what I say as the rantings of an angry old man, but given what is taking place today regarding the war in the Middle East and everything that may happen, my suggestion is that–while there is time–people turn off the Britney Spears, the Desperate Housewives and the football games and listen, listen carefully to what happened, as it is likely to happen again, because, as the old saying goes, ‘a leopard does not change its spots.’

He told them clearly to get the hell away from his ship, finishing his remarks with ‘We want no help from you.’

They left the area and soon were out of sight.....
