I don't know why we are paying an animal contol officer because there are dogs running loose throughout out neighborhood. No collar. You can't even walk, drive a golf cart or ride a bycycle without dogs biting the tires. Good ordinance but no one is enforcing it.

What we need is a little "people control". People should be fined for letting their animals run wild. This "ain't" the country anymore and dogs should not be allowed to wander for their own safety and the safety of people like runners, bicycle riders, motorcycle riders.

Sad but true Tessa, there was a time when there were fewer property owners here and dogs could "loafer" all they wanted to and as long as they didn't chase cows or kill chickens it was okay. Now that the population has grown so much it is time to start cracking down on owners of strays that wander around with no collars or rabies tags on, but tracking the owners down is near impossible. I see the animal control truck on the road pretty often so evidently the animal control officer is trying his best.

A friend told me that the humane society is overrun with animals and can barely feed them. They get very little funding from the county and rely mostly on donations and volunteer work. If everyone who reads this post would spend or donate $50 at their thrift store it would make a big difference, or when you visit Sams club pick up a few big bags of dog or cat food.
