Manape, I seriously wish that we could have an online discussion with him. It would be really hard for alot of us (me included) to keep it civil and decent but having a discussion where we could have questions, answers, and comments with him would be interesting to say the least. I don't know him personally but some of the crap that he writes in the paper makes me sick. I think he's gotten a little too high on his horse, most people that you mention his name to doesn't have anything positive to say about him.

Yeah, his article this week was real bad. I've known the man since he came here, and he never changes. He just can't see himself the way he really is.
He's one of the most angry people you'll ever meet. He tries to put on a smug face to convince people that they can't get to him, but his anger is always right at the surface, ready to come boiling out.
If you look at what he wrote this week, its a good example. He's sitting there trying to tell everybody how great his weekend was, that he didn't think negative thoughts, but it takes no time at all before it turns into this angry rant about all the people who don't appreciate him, who have wronged him, etc. etc.
He really believes he is a righteous man, but he is everything he talks about in that article. He lies to get his way, threatens to get his way, does anything he can to get his way. But for him its ok, because he is doing it all for the good of the community. He would never accept the fact that he only does it to keep what little he has.
He is no different than Buchanon, just two sides of the same coin. Only difference is, he is smart enough to know who to suck up to (like the person whoose photo is on the front page of his rag 4 times this week), while Buchanon is dumb enough to go after that type of person.
A discussion with him wouldn't get you anywhere. It would be like trying to convince Osama Bin Laden that terrorism is wrong.

That's really a good idea. He would be more inclined to participate if the comments could be kept civil and decent enough to still make it interesting. It might even be beneficial for the NGN. Give it a try. There is nothing to loose.

Manicu, no big deal here. I'm glad he got away for a little R&R. Except, for the one paragraph everybody is upset about, it was a good little viewpoint. Forums allow people to react to what is being said in the news.

HB, it is OK to have an Elvis meal occasionally. We must do it in moderation. I had an Elvis moment today. I had a cat-head biscuit with egg and bacon this morning. I don't need lunch for sure. The Biscuit cost me $2.35...not bad for an all day meal. Is that frugal or what? I think I will do some power walking for lunch.
Happy Friday all. I need to go make some money.

Hubby threw out the paper before I could read it, so I had to go to the online edition.
Now I have never said anything bad about Norman Cooper, that I can recall. I don't know him. But I think he has shown his true colors by making the following statement:
Good thing since about half of us there had black powder rifles for target shooting (this was not a hunting trip). There were also many tomahawks and throwing knives. Everything there was terrific.... Those of us at that camping event appreciate each other - not for what we can get out of each other, but just for being friends.
#1- I certainly wouldn't go camping with people that were not my friends or that I didn't like. DUH! NORMAN
#2- Was he implying that because they had guns and knives if someone had said something he didn't agree with they would have hurt or killed the person? SPEAK INTO THE MICROPHONE PLEASE!
HHMMM! I might have to reconsider and re-visit the negative post about Mr. Cooper online and do a re-evaluation of my opinion.
TSK TSK TSK such a poor show of judgement and character by an editor. Once it's in print it can't be taken back.

You trash Norm on here, why can't he say something in his column? Fair is fair. As everyone on here is fond of saying, it's a free country and we have freedom of speech. Sure, it might not have been too professional but still he has the right. Or is it only right when it is said on this forum? You can't have it both ways.

Bluemoon, I see your point. On the other hand, the NGN editor is SO obsequious to those in "power" that he unintentionally invites ridicule from others.
BTW, I like your forum name. Are you from KY by chance? ("Blue moon of KY keep on shining, etc.)

Tessa, I understand what you mean about Norm. I am not defending him but I do hate to see someone continuously put down by people who may not really know the man. Not just Norm, anyone, even the Commissioner. That's just the way I am. I usually stick up for someone I feel is being picked on. I know sticking up for Norm and the Commissioner won't make me popular with some people on this forum but they don't matter anyway. I think some of them have a few loose screws! I understand that Norm is an obvious target for people to throw stones at but I always try to remember what Jesus said about throwing stones.
No, not from Kentucky. Just like the name.

UH-OH I have been smited! I was up to 24.
Guess I will have to stay warm and fuzzy and not really post opinions at all.
Well maybe not, see Norman uses the paper as his soapbox, to print what he wants and what he thinks. Basically if you don't agree with him you are wrong. I guess we should all see if Mr. West would publish a paper for us presenting the other side of the story.
Unless it was one of them sneaky old non-Vols fan lurking around smiting me, hhmmm... or maybe an imposter/alias.

Bluemoon, I don't want to pick on anyone. I hope that the NGN editor will read the comments made here and look at them as constructive criticism.
