Why are tax payers paying for DNA test for people who are on Welfare? How much does it cost the tax payers each individual time a child and "illegable" father is tested? How many test will the Department of Family and Childrens Services furnish before the office says, enough. You have slept with too many to remember. Your bad! I know this is a issue in Georgia. What is very discouraging is that low income families are loosing their medical benefits for their children, yet the State feels it is ok to pay for DNA test in the way that they are. By allowing people to take advantage of the system. To have DNA done on a welfare case, saves money that the government would use paying out for TANF, Food Stamps and Medical Assistance. I understand this. It also insures that the non custodial parent (DNA tested positive) will be held accountable for paying child support. This would in some dependant way of thinking, would mean less for the receiving party who is able to get benefits. I do not know the going rate of childsupport for a child these days. I am sure if it is based on a person who works for min. wage, that would be a small amount. Should the tax payers pay for a person sleeping with someone that they did not want to parent a child with? There are woman and men who take advantage of this. For what ever reason they may feel to avoid testing an accurate candidate, I feel they should not have put themselves in a situation to be avoiding the issue and taking advantage of the system.. and tax payers money. The last I have heard, DNA testing is somewhere between $350.00 and $500.00. I can assure you that there are people who have more than 2 test done in these circumstances. Let alone the welfare benefits they receive until they decide to give the correct father as a candidate. I feel that Georgia needs to reshape the way they work these "benefits" and work on the more needing areas of this department. There are more pittyful cases out there rather than, I wished I would have picked a better donor.

Are you serious?? That's awful that we have to pay for someone's ignorance. Who in their right mind wouldn't know who the daddy is of their child? Just too much for me to soak in. The poor kid is the one who loses out on this.

The State of Georgia should put them on the Maury show, cause that's all he does anymore.
There was one lady on there, whose daughter was having DNA done, she has gone through about 12 men so far. What was really good about it was one man said before testing that he didn't care if he was or was not the father, he would be proud to have her for a daughter.
I mean come on you know when you got pregnant, unless you was getting a train run on you, you know who it is.
I think DNA should be reserved for criminals, if it has your DNA on it then you go straight to jail, no court, no free lawyer, no taxpayer money.

LOL! Ya'll crack me up! And definately a big ole Eiiiiw!
I do not understand tax payers dollars paying for this! THEY HONESTLY DO? OVER? AND OVER?
That's not only sad, but even more so that someone would go THAT many times to find out the true father. Don't you think most of them know who it is but are ashamed of the real person? I've seen these type situations. They were ashamed of who the real father of their child is. My kids hit this world with DNA written all over their faces there was no mistaking who was whose! LOL!

Lady, I think alot of it is abusing the system too. specially after so many test are done? As far as I have heard, they can get all kinds of assistance, the mother and child.. while waiting for paternity to be estiblished. That is what erks me. The fact that they would rather people hand to them rather than get off their arse and do something for their child and themselves to better their life.. and the fact that the child is missing out on knowing being able to making their own judgement as well on wether they want to know more about WHO THEY ARE.. If the person was good enough to lay down with, then they are good enough to carry out even after the "fun" is over.. Its sickening the extents people will go to tho. The train thing makes sence too Honeybee.. never thought about that I don't think tho.lol! EWW

Some people are on welfare that shouldn't be. I agree that it is ridiculous that taxpayers have to pay for DNA tests for people on welfare!

Personally, I don't believe ANY able bodied man or WOMAN should receive welfare. Nor should their children. If the parent can work, they should, no not should, but must work.
There are too many welfare queens and kings milking the system. I know at least one and I don't like for my tax dollars going to pay for their sorryness.
