Do any of you know of anyone in Union County that heads up any activities such as walks, yard sales etc. for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation?? My 17 year old granddaughter has CF and is going to try to be in a walk in May if she is able. (in Jax Fla.). I emailed the CF foundation in Atlanta asking for any info, but they have not answered. The Chamber of Commerce were no help. The Union General Hospital was no help nor the Health Dept. I may have to stand out in the middle of the square with a bucket, because I promised her I would help. Please let me know if you know of anyone that does this sort of thing.

Thanks summerose & honeybee. I don't know yet just what I'm going to do Honeybee. I think CF may have their drive in May, so the weather will be a lot nicer. I thought a yard sale might raise some cash if I could get a good location for it downtown. Also, putting donation cans in some of the businesses if I could. I need to find out if I would need a permit to ask for donations. I will post when I work something out further.

Sme ideas for you:
What you should try to do is get a place to have a yard sale and "rent" spaces to people for a donation, that would you would have a large turn out of sellers and buyers.
Have a group of kids do a rock-a-thon (rocking chairs) as a fund raiser.
Get some donated items and do a raffel. I will be glad to donate something

Bella. Maybe you could contact some of the local churches. First Baptist is real big in getting people to sign up for relay for life. At least they were a couple of years ago. Coosa Methodist is very active in giving back to the community. They have a craft fair, but it maybe for rasing money at the church. If you can contact CF in Atlanta, I'm sure they will have some event. I participated in a run / walk in Atlanta for another charity. I have noticed collection cans for local causes in stores. There are many other local towns including Murphy, NC that are real big in giving back to the community. Relay for Life in murphy is having a singing contest. There are many events here too, like the Scottish festival, Tour de Georgia, Butternut Creek Crafts in the Park, etc. You just need to be in the right place at the right time. A lot of local churches do things like set up places to sell barbeque. So, it might be a good idea to contact some of those folks to see if you could ask for donations at one of their events. Perhaps we can come up with some phone numbers for you to call. Eventhough, this is a low income area. People are very generous.
