It can be a job for sure.. specially when you are feeding more than yourself.. actually when you have a half dozen to feed.. its a priority to keep the family fed with nutritious foods. On an average we spend about 400.00 a month.. some months we spend more on because we have children home during summer break.. that is when the food bill goes up with understanding of why, I will not complain about it. I try to stick with what is usually on the agenda and try not to go overboard.. however, somethings Ive wanted to try.. and learned as well.. Those crazy temptation isle displays.lol! What I was wondering, is if you any of you do any special menus, or know of any special (savings) ways to shop. I usually get what I can at Walmart.. I usually forget some things and end up at one of our local stores..

I am in a "rut" with grocery shopping. All these years and I just buy the same ole same ole and get home and it's like "YUCK" and I dont want this or that. I hate that!
Lately, I've been buying daily stuff for supper because it seems when I buy for the whole week, no one wants what I have bought. And I aint gonna waste it. So...Yea! Tonight NO ONE was here but honey and well...Yeah...I fixed chicken n dumplings and he had enough for lunch tomorrow. But groceries right now are getting ridiculous. I do understand and I do know and as they grow older it gets more costlier. *sigh*

That is a good idea to do Lady. My SIL done that for years. Bought what she needed daily.. she also lived in town, too tho. She also works in town. sigh. We have a dollar general out this way.. lol They have some frozen foods.. umm but not much. If it was closer tho, I would do the same thing too.
I will take your word for that all that you said as well. You have not been wrong many of times I have came to you about things..lol!
Thanks!

I like to grocery shop without the kids! There's too much money wasted on stuff we don't need. I go between Ingles & Bilo here. I like going to Hiawassee to that Ingles because they have more organic & specialty items there. Can't forget the beer & wine there too!! LOL

I hate taking my husband and lilred with me, we always, always end up buying more stuff then what we need.
I try to go during the day at work or hit the Dollar Store on my way home.
I just love the convience of that store.

I use coupons as much as possible and also buy alot of the "Laura Lynn" brands at Ingles, they are as good or better than some of the big name brands.

I don't mind Laura Lynn either at all.. somethings are just as good in the store brand.. I tip my Laura Lynn apple juice to ya on that.lol! I have started back with coupons.. and very thankful for the Sunday paper too! I don't take the kids unless I have no choice.,lol Either me or my husband goes and usually at night too.. when its not crowded.. As much as my kids are growing.. I have a feeling that I will be finding out very soon that the price will always go up and up.. and I don't mind them eating if they are hungry.. but I am laying the law down to them about the waste of food.. sigh. We have a considerable amount of this happen and if I have cut down on portions, I can grant ya ll that they will ask for more.. make more and then they do not eat it all.. what to do what to do.. oops.. forgot that there is a spell check on here.. how cool is that!

I use a lot of Laura Lynn stuff too.
I like their tea bags the best, when you stir them they don't tear and dump grounds out in the tea jug. I had that problem with Tetley and Lipton.
I also use their mayonnaise, when the Hellman's isn't on sale.

I save money by shopping for groceries at Walmart once a week. We have 5 in our family and I cant afford to shop anywhere else. When I'm in Atlanta I try to stop at Sams Club and buy in bulk. Like all of you here, I also shop without the kids. Those grocery stores are not kid friendly. They make it all so eye appealing these days.

If I go to costco, I usually take a big cooler to keep everything cold. Our grocery stores here stink!! One has good of something, other one doesn't. One has this, the other doesn't. Bilo has ONE kind of laundry detergent for top loaders. I don't like Tide!! Ingles meats don't look as nice as Bilo's. Foodland...I won't buy meat from there. It never looks fresh.
