Ladies and Gentlemen,
Concerning the meeting today, only Rep. Loudermilk was able to be present, however a written “petition to be heard by the Legislature” was explained to him and copies left for his disbursement.
Rep. Loudermilk did reveal that one Legislator has already been thinking about impeaching a judge and another might be leaning in favor of the impeachment process of at least one judge just to serve as a deterrent to others.
He went on to state that, as the servant of the will of the people and compliant with the Constitutional mandates contained in Article I, Section I, he believed that a citizen had the right to petition the Legislature for articles of impeachment of corrupt officials, that the citizen had a right to be heard in his testimony and his evidence, and acknowledged that he did not fully understand the current House Rules on the Impeachment Process and doubted if 90% of his colleagues understood it either, but that he would be changing that oversight.
According to Rep. Loudermilk, there would not be time before Sine Die to bring the matter up for consideration before adjournment; however it might be brought up at a special session in a few weeks, if such a session should be required by the Governor’s veto of the budget bill.
I do wish that I could tell you that this message of citizen’s rights had a large audience, and I really wish that I could have argued these rights before constitutional attorneys. But, let us remember that there are times when God raises up just one person to accomplish his purpose, whether it is to put a Republic on the straight and narrow or bring to the remembrance of a people their duty to their Divine Creator. Maybe this is to be the calling of Barry Loudermilk; only God knows. Let us not cease being in prayer for him as he is where God has intended him to be, and he certainly would not have called upon my counsel, for myself and on your behalf, if it had not been intended by God for him to hear. Now, we must have faith that, at some point, our voices, crying out from this abuse, this treason, these thefts of our property, will be heard; for the power to redress our grievances has been given into his hands.
Perhaps it would be appropriate for each of us to send Mr. Loudermilk at least a written “thank you” for requesting this hearing. I do believe the intent of his heart is honorable.
So mote it be.
Paul
