So the Sentinel reported about a murder in Blairsville this week, but the NGN didn't. Now the NGN has it up as breaking news on their site. www.nganews.comThe breaking news even says that the arrest of the suspected murderer was listed in the 4-2-08 arrest reports of the paper. That makes it even funnier because it means it happened days ago, Cooper just totally missed it. His writing and photos are pitiful as it is, his only saving grace is that he writes 100 articles a week and gets a lot of stuff in the paper. If he's falling down on the job on that, he's going to be in bad shape. Wonder how he missed this? Spending too much time on this forum maybe? Or maybe the sheriff's office has grown tired of dealing with him and only told the Sentinel? Regardless, it makes him look stupid. Omikkron

A murder is big news in this county and I cannot think of why it would not be published since it occurred several days before the paper went to print! There was no mention of the bus accident that happened last week, either. I am sure Norm will have some "good" excuse for not having the information in the paper.
I listen to a local radio station. Why don't the radio stations give local news? Again, it shows the best way to find out what is going on is to read the forums! We cannot rely on Norm to tell us what is going on and since the paper is only published weekly, what is in the paper is usually old news.

If it wasn't for the internet as an alternative news source, the truth wouldn't get out except for rare occasions when, some one thats not from around here, like John Buchanan comes along.
John woke a few of us up to Liemore and Normal. Thank you John. I'm sorry we didn't stand by you more.

What Mencken had to say about modern day journalist:::
Mencken's Book,* like the first five volumes of its series, lives up to its title. Author Mencken's style is that of a capable blacksmith. His hammer is large and noisy but it usually descends squarely on his anvil. So gritty are the workman's hands, so sweaty is his face that it is easy not to realize that for the most part he is engaged upon no more important a task than flattening pennies.
In this opus his sledge descends first upon "Journalism in America": "Most of the evils that continue to beset American journalism today, in truth, are not due to the rascality of owners nor even to the Kiwanian bombast of business managers, but simply and solely to the stupidity of working newspaper men. The majority of them in almost every American city are still ignoramuses and proud of it."

Maybe, the victim was a troublemaker, so Norm didn't deem their death important.

Maybe, the victim was a troublemaker, so Norm didn't deem their death important. norm would use the term "undesirable", and print it as a viewpoint not signed.

No surprise, he's too busy smelling a few people's butts to actually get out and look for real news.

A newspaper isn't a gossip forum. Any loser in the world can post some crap on a forum like this, but if you want to know the truth you still have to read it in a credible newspaper like the NGN. I'm sure the paper had a good reason for holding off on printing the story.
Unlike the Sentinel the NGN doesn't print rumors, lies and untruths. Anyone care to bet against the fact that next week, the NGN will have COMPLETE and ACCURATE coverage and if the Sentinel has anything at all it will just be them writing about some rumors they heard?
I DIDN'T THINK SO.

The NGN rag is mostly gossip in the form of the viewpoints made up by their own editor.
