of Celebrities adopting overseas? Is it because it is easier? Cheaper? Less hassel? No interference from birth parents? What do you think??

I'm not sure if they do it for being cheaper. I do think in Angelina Jolie's case, she just feels a passion to these children and country. Save the world mentality. I'd save the children here, first if it was me. It probably has a lot to do with the legality process here.

Me too, m4m.
No experience myself, I have heard of people going through a ridiculous screening process and it taking them years and years to adopt. I can understand background checks and such, but I believe our government just has too much red tape.

I agree M4M, I'd save the kids here first too! We have alot of children in this country that need to be adopted into good homes.

I've never understood all the red tape legalities with adoptions here; not to mention the expense. I do understand the importance of background checks; but the rest to me, is a waste of time and money. There are many children here in the US that need homes, and many 'childless parents' that want a child. I think it's a shame that they spend years being juggled around in the system; and only because some legal eagle(s) think that certain applicants do not qualify.

We have friends who adopted from China. She is 4 or 5 years old now. It took a LONG time just to get her. They had one other one and it 'fell' through. Honestly, I never asked "why" they chose from China...but I did learn a few things while watching their video they made while they were there, children are not seen much, the little ones walk around with a little hole in their pants to potty fromand stand over a hole type sewer..that was VERY ODD. The homes that the adoptions is carried out in is very sad. The children aren't clean. The cries is terrible. They do not understand. (the babies) They are just handed over and that's that! And ONE MORE thing I learned, YOU DO NOT SEE ANY CATS IN CHINA! YEP! They were there I think two weeks, and never seen the first one! Kinda makes ya say "hmm..." And "oh well it tastes like chicken..huh?"

Omy.lol! Sorry.. the cat thing.. however, .. Do you suppose they chose China because of the number of children born there that are not welcomed? I was told by someone that the families there can not have more than two children because it is soo overly populated? I dont say that to be fact because it was just what I was told by another person a very long time ago and not the folks that you are talking about either.. but I am glad that they got the child.. they are great people.. and wonderful parents to that child..

From what I understand is you can have 1 girl only and as many boys as you want. Girls are not valued over there and they will do away with girl babies.
Funny, without girls there cannot be boys. Wonder if they look at it like that?

I think it is their business. They have the right to choose where they want their kids from.
