Letters submitted with stupid racial innuendos then left unsigned are definately B.S.
Cinko De Mayo stupid and stupid and stupid
Indian and the lawyers, so overdone and lame.
And people say I need to grow up.
Is no one writing and mailing in letters, are they struggling with filler for the page?

Ok, so I know that the paper has nothing to do with me since I no longer live up there, but I do have some questions.....
As a writer, I have seen so many things in the paper that were written with the mindset and intelligence of a young middle schooler. True journalism is simply not seen in this paper. It is biased and seems to print only what agrees with or furthers the cause of it's own agenda(s). The writing is poor, the verbiage shows ignorance. So if the quality is this bad on a regular basis, then why is Cooper still doing most of the writing? Is he the only writer?
As a consumer, why do people continue to buy, thereby support, this paper? Why are the advertisers not contacted and/or boycotted? If you want to see change, then hit'em in the pocketbook. No money from sales and advertisers, no way for them to stay in business. Perhaps this is a way to open the door for a REAL newspaper. Even a "good ol'boy" network would have to succumb to the financial pressure in today's economy.
As for us being downed by the "editor" in one of his letters or view points columns, simply because we are a poster on local forums, simply shows his own insecurities. There are many intelligent people with intelligent questions, ideas, and opinions who post on the local forums, and this show of intelligence obviously makes him very uncomfortable.
If you want things to change, then start by talking to the local advertisers. Tell them you will no longer be buying the paper and why, thus making their advertisements a moot point. Quit buying the paper. Quit going online to the site. The money they receive from all of the above is what is keeping them in business. If you want change, you have to make it happen.
To say it simply - shut'em up and shut'em down.

Taylor, if you have a newpaper box by your driveway, you don't pay for the newspaper, they deliver them for free... they don't get much income from the readers/bird cage liners/fish wrappers. It has to be from the ads... there are so many real estate ads every week the paper could do a whole section just with those!

Then people would have to talk with the advertisers -

I have yet to advertise our business in the paper and we stay busy. WOM is a powerful thing. Honestly I stopped reading the paper with in a month of being up here because it is crazy. Now they only time I read it is when you guys tell me something crazy in it which is about weekly.

Guess he didn't get any e-mail chain letters this week that he could call one of his 'editorials'.
How delusional is someone who thinks everyone is jealous of him AND think he's powerful and someone to look up to???
Can't you just see him standing in front of his mirror, probably in his tighty whiteys with his coon skin cap on, telling himself, "You ARE powerful! You ARE respected! EVERYONE is jealous of you!".
I believe I just threw up a bit.

I believe I just threw up a bit. Gag me! Cooper should be required by law to be dressed in at least three layers of clothes at all time, even alone in front of a mirror! But you hit it right on sangria, I imagine he does do that. I laughed at his viewpoint about message board people this week. The best part is, HE is a message board person. Whether his name is Spiderman, Aunt Sue, Bluemoon, Fullmoon, Normal or whatever, he's on all the time defending himself. Guess he has to though, since everyone else agrees that he's both pathetic and ridiculous. Omikkron
