Although we did not have troubles in this household, I hear it was alarming. True or False?
I hate standardize testing! My kids do great on it, but some kids do not test well at all.

If that's true, babe, that is terrible! Indication of a problem w/ the teaching, not just the kids!

My kids passed in the excelled area, thank God! I saw on the other forum that they called all the kids who failed it up to the office. How humiluating to a student. Peers can be mean at that age and the teasing is relentless.
Yes, Babe..that sounds like a problem with the teaching going on. I may have to look at home schooling, suches, or the boarding school in Jasper.

I hope that they will review those kids records and see what, if anything they have in commn. Like maybe the same teacher, or being passed to the next grade without actually qualifying. That happened to lilred before I pulled her. She couldn't get the math and they sent her on up a grade.
Maddy I heard the other day that you can get online homeschooling courses through the state and county.

They changed something this year that made it tough, something with the standards.
GA is following in FL footsteps, Jeb Bush screwed up the education system with the FCAT and now FCAT cirriculm is taught not the education we used to get. Union County is going to have no choice but to do this or this will happened. You think CRCT is down our throat now, just wait until they are back into a corner and this happens. I do not blame the school as much as I blamed the theory behind the state standard testing. Alright I could right a book on this, I did my thesis on this very topic, it is a hot spot with me. Standardize testing has its place, but it is not dictating our kids education or dictating if they need to advance or not.

My kids came home telling me about the kids not doing good on the math part of the CRCT. The same thing happened last year and it is with the same math teacher. I have one more to go through that grade!

According to the 6:00 news, ours is not the only system with this problem. Evidently the degree of difficulty in content of the standardized test has increased as have the passing scores. I know the CRCT stress level at the Primary school was through the roof. There should be a different way to evaluate programs.

My official take on the program is: NO STANDARDIZED TESTING.
Lilred get's the IOWA whatever, I can't remember and they do just fine.
They take tests every week on math, english, spelling or whatever classes they have. That right there shows whether they are 'getting it or not". If you are passing then you are following along and catching it. If you aren't then there needs to be some tutoring, parenting involvement or what ever it takes.
They should not have to start out the schol year practicing for the CRCT, after all it's a test over what you know and have retained.
I am looking for a math tutor for lilred over the summer, she needs help with advanced math. I don't need a state test to tell me that, I can see by her weekly grades that she is having a problem.
Does anyone really believe that the "people" in the "state level government" who decides what these test consist of could pass them theirselves? I don't think so.

jist honey, I think that you can just start asking for the medicine and not worry about the test. We might need to start a health thread for this discussion. Even though it sounds like it may be education related.
According to the six O'clock news this is a state wide issue not a county issue. The state super is evaluating what has caused this.

Ga. test scores raise red flags The state's school leaders were so shocked by dismal scores on state math and social studies tests that the state superintendent released a statement to prepare parents and others for the results. my.ajc.com/W0RH01E0D88107B2E2BDA2BCAD6650

Well I was embarrasses to live and be a native to Florida when we messed up the vote, atleast I can say, "Hey I do not know how to vote, but I can pass a test." Alright I am just kidding. I am really thinking about home school and was prior to this. I am giving it one more year. Mine did great and improved this year, but many kids did not.

They are really punishing ya'll for messing up the vote, the primary that is going on now won't even include Florida. You voted to early. Which I think is stupid of the gov't. A vote is a vote is a vote and should count.
