Any news about the UCBI layoffs yet? I read on a finance blog that the notices just went out in Tennessee.

I hope no one in this area gets the notice... hunny's daughter works there. Will have to call to see if she heard anything.

It may well be an unfounded rumor... except that it shouldn't surprise anyone. As many other banks appear to be pulling out of the doldrums, this one hasn't and isn't likely to overcome prior shadiness without selling completely out.
I am aware that Capitol City Bankshares has expressed an interest, but the entire board is Afr-Am and not likely to keep any holdings in Union or Towns County. Suntrust directors toyed the idea a few months ago but hasn't committed to any preliminary due diligence yet.
I dont know hunny's daughter, but for her sake I wish that she was employed elsewhere at this time. Jobs are becoming rarer across the southeast as the economy continues to sour.

hunny talked to his daughter... she had not heard anything. Also said the bank never laid anyone off in Union County as far as she knows.
