This sounds like a really good, old fashioned "Grass Roots" way to meet and get to know a candidate.
I think more politicians should do things like this. It gives them a chance to let people get to know them, their beliefs, their ideas, and viewpoints. And, they get a chance to listen to their constituents. Seems like a win-win idea to me.

I do not know if you have met Gene personally, I had met him a couple of times in passing; my husband considers him a friend. The other night I got a chance to really talk to Gene, he was not campaigning, we we all just talking. An ice cream social is perfect for him, he is easy to talk to, very down to earth, and very intelligent. If I could go I would, but I will be out of town. When I see remarks that are cruel and untrue that Lamar makes, not just about him, but Tony, it makes me mad. Lamar could learn alot from these two. Anyways, I am done with my speech. |

Amen sista!!! Muley needs to come down off that pedestal he climbed upon be himself. Gene son i love ya like a brother, but i can't make it either. You and the younguns eat a bowl of chocolate for me. Don't forgit the nuts. lol

Now oscar, you know that a half pint wouldn't be more than a small bite for Norm. Then of course he would have to write a column about he knew about the ice cream before everybody else did, and that undesirables shouldn't be allowed to eat ice cream.
I'm glad it was a success for you Gene, you have my support and my vote.

I went by there and the place was packed out, with people lined up out the door just about. Gene gave me some ice cream and I said he might have won my vote with a Sundae! I also told him I liked his big signs with his picture on it. He said they were good for keeping the crows away. So now every farmer in Union County is wanting one or two. Gene is brilliant.
