OK boys and girls, get your wooden baskets, going green shopping bag's and your cash and head on out.
The Blairsville Farmer's Market starts up this weekend and you know you need fresh veggies, canned items, crafts and of course SOAP AND HONEY!!!! Fresh Wildflower honey and a small amount of last year's Sourwood. This year's Sourwood won't be ready until after July.
Support your local farmers.
Come out and visit with friends.
Starts at 7:00 a.m. and goes until about 2:00. Last year the veggies were usually gone by 8:30, so get an early start.
The new courthouse parking lot. BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hardly any produce, it's still early in the season for our gardens. Onions, collards, cucumbers, squash. In 2 weeks they should have some corn. Jewelry, crafts, herbs and ointments, food, fresh eggs, jellies & jams, flowers, got me an Angel Trumpet plant. Oh yeah honey and soap. Lot's of vendors, overcast day nice and pleasant, crowd was slow, but I feel it will build over the next few weeks.
Got to see my football buddy Shucks and his daughter, of course I had on my Orange T attire and of course we had to argue.
Nice musical group playing.
Visited with several friends I haven't seen in awhile.
It was a Nice Day.

My family will be up this week and I can't wait to see what's available. We will be having a reunion Saturday at lunchtime but I will "escape" in hopes of getting some homegrown veggies.

SuzyQ veggies are a little slim right now, so get there early if you can. We came home with some fresh green onions.
2C the lady that makes the chow-chow is wonderful and grumpy loves her chow-chow and you know how picky he is.

Tulip, chow chow is a type of relish made most commonly with shredded cabbage. onions, vinegar and spices. I've also seen green tomatoes used. In Texas is is often quite hot/spicy from peppers, but can also have a sweet taste when apples are mixed in. Different recipes use different things - some use apple cider vinegar, some use white vinegar, some use lots of sugar, some don't, some are quite salty, and different spices can be used, from dry mustard to ginger.
Usually served with beans (pinto's, kidney, ect) but also used on hot dogs, sausage, etc.

Last year I bought some awesome chow at Heritage Days festival. That was by far my favorite. I always buy it whenever I see it.

2 you probably got your's from Mrs. Margaret Payne. A wonderful lady who does all kinds of canning.
You can go to her house and buy it from her directly.
I think TJ Plott also had some, but he didn't do it himself.

Not sure who I bought from, just know that it was two nice older ladies that had a large selection of all kinds of canned goodies, bought some pickles, too. She was one of the first booths at the festival. If thats the same lady, then you'll have to hook me up, cause that stuff was awesome.
Went to the farmers market on Saturday, of course started to rain when I got there, but I managed to buy some greens and green beans, some homemade whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread, and some honey. I don't like honey, but Mr C says its the best he's ever had!
