I won a car back in the 80's at a Detroit Red Wings Game. They made me ride around in it on the ice and it was televised. ;D

Shhhhh!! Most people don't know that I can cook! I make a really good pound cake. It is not good because I make it. It is good because it's my maw's recipe. I also make a really good chocolate pound cake with old fashioned chocolate icing, but don't tell Coosa. I heard through the grape vine that she likes chocolate just a little bit. ;D

The above "winning" post remind me of a family joke from 20 years ago.
My mother's younger brother Calvin was always a joker. He called mama one morning and disguised his voice. He asked is this M. G.? She said yes. He asked about her correct address, she replied yes. He then went into a big speech and congratulations for her winning the latest drawing at the grocery store. He talked about how glad they were that a local customer was the winner. Blah Blah Blah, on and on he went, but never told her what she had won. She kept listening, and every time she'd ask what she had won, he's go off again on something else. FInally, after she had swallowed the whole story, he told her "You, Mrs. M. G. , have won a lifetime suppply, full tractor trailer load of Trigger's Horse Sh*T!! Ha, ha sister, I got'cha! And I got'cha good!" Mama had been taken! She couldn't really get mad, but she was quite disappointed. You just know she had imagined all kinds of wonderful things she could have won! She then told him she would get him back. He said there would be no way she could get him that good, and besides, he'd be on the lookout for any revenge.
Flash forward about 2 years. Mama, me, my uncles wife Martha, and another aunt all came up with something perfect. We sat around one evening and wrote him a nice long letter. This "letter" was from some distant cousin that lived near where they grew up. She went on in this letter to describe childhood visits with them, asked about other relatives, told about her kids, asked about theirs, and told about poor Uncle Zeke dying (we don't even have an Uncle Zeke!). She said there was a will, and that he had left some things to them, and that she'd had such a hard time locating them. There was a bunch of old coins (which my uncle collected), some old quilts, books, papers, family photos, some money and even possibly some land. She said she would write again soon and start getting the things to them. She even enclosed some of the "old family photo's" which in reality were from my other aunt's deceased step-fathers family and not related to us at all!
Martha gave the letter to her daughter, who gave it to a friend of hers that delivered auto parts to the town the "cousin" was supposed to be in. The letter was mailed, and we waited. A few days later, my uncle called mama and very excitedly began telling her about the letter he had received and what it said. He was tickled! He had it so bad he even began to say he thought he remembered this woman and dear old Uncle Zeke!!
The following week my dad had to go up to the Dublin VA hospital for a check-up and when he got back, he called Uncle Calvin and told him he had not only found the cousin, but had went by her house on his way home. He told him that the cousin had given him a jar of old coins, and a couple other things. Uncle Calvin was furious! He was sure that mama was trying to get the jump on him!
Mama then wrote another letter and had it mailed the same as the first one. In this letter, she gave a few more clues as to what the "inheritance" would be. The last line of the letter - "a Lifetime supply, full tractor trailer load of Trigger's Horse Sh*t! Ha Ha, I TOLD ya I'd get Ya! Love always, Sis"
He didn't speak to mama for almost 3 weeks!

Taylor, thanks for the warm chuckles.
Ana, its not mustard or seafood sauce! Besides, it works for truffles.

Now just imagine how a gatherin' would be with me there! As for chocolate going with orange, of course it does! Chocolate goes with almost anything!

A little known fact about me: The worst thing I ever did as a teenager was to steal all the "keep off the grass" signs at the florida military school. (BTW, I later put them back)
