Candidates have only themselves to blame

Paris got 2,400 votes.

If you add up the votes of all the other candidates (Dyer, Nelson, Melick and Cook), you come away with 2,675. If everyone who doesn't support Lamar, Republican and Democrat alike, would have just gotten behind Tony Dyer, Lamar could have been beaten.

Unfortunately you have all these other people who come out of the woodwork thinking they have a chance when they don't, and nothing is ever accomplished.

I'm sure Lamar will enjoy it when he gets at least 75% of the vote in the general election.

Then everyone can enjoy 4 more years of him.

So lets get this straight, you think that the rest of us should have supported Tony Dyer just because you did? Your argument holds no water, it could easily be applied to the rest of the candidates. Tony proved that he has something in common with Lamar Paris, neither of them care about the will of the voters, he tried to beat a dead horse with the alcohol issue. If those 2675 people who voted for the candidates other than Paris will come together and vote for Cook then there's a good chance that we can elect a new and better leader. I think the real reason that none of the others did so well was their lack of willingness to "take their gloves off" and go head to head with Liemar on the issues. It looked for awhile like Tony was going to do that but for some reason he stopped. Harold Cook has proven that he isn't afraid to call Lamar out for his wrongdoings, he is the only one who stand up to Liemar.

I wasn't running against Lamar so I couldn't have gone toe to toe with him and it wouldn't have done any good. You have no idea what I had in store for the general election. But Harold is the nominee. He is going to have to change his tactics if he is going to win. "Calling Lamar out" has not worked for him in the past. When attacks are made, they must be effective.

But I think Harold is going to overhaul his strategy this time. Still he has a big hill to climb.

The reason more people voted against Lamar than for is because there were 4 other personalities drawing votes. Everyone has friends that will vote for them even over a popular incumbent. Use your common sense people.

I gotta disagree with you there Justin. I think more campaigning and getting your word out would have made you a much more effective candidate. All the coulda's and shoulda's are worthless now though. I still stand by what I said in another post though, you have a very bright future in local politics. If Harold can get people to realize that he did MUCH more for the county in his four years with less debt than Lamar has in his eight years in office then a change will be made.

That would be nice. However, where there is a will there is a way. If they are gonna cheat and lie, they are gonna find a way to do it paper or computerized. Just the nature of the beast.

It's easier to rig an electronic voting machine than a Las Vegas slot machine, says University of Pennsylvania visiting professor Steve Freeman.
That's because Vegas slots are better monitored and regulated than America's voting machines, Freeman writes in a book out in July that argues, among other things, that President Bush may owe his 2004 win to an unfair vote count. We'll wait to read his book before making a judgment about that. But Freeman has assembled comparisons that suggest Americans protect their vices more than they guard their rights, according to data he presented at an October meeting of the American Statistical Association in Philadelphia.

Look at the way car commercials are packaged. Nothing about the practical point of view! Everything about the emotional.

Same with voters. You have to like "your" candidate unless, he knows the DieBold gods.
