Do you believe state, national, and/or local government is too much government? I think most of us can agree that national government should be restrained. What do you believe about state and/or local government and why do you believe the way you do?
Let us all abide by the NEW RULES and keep your comments civil, please.

""Let us all abide by the NEW RULES and keep your comments civil, please.""
%$#@^*(^%##@^&*#$%$#@$%#%^$#!!!
Now that I've got that out of my system, I've got a better question::
What difference does it make whether it's National, State, or Local??
Is not bloated government bad?? Is not oppressive government bad??? Is not incompetent government bad??
If you answer yes to all 3 questions above, vote Lamar out of office.

WAAAAYYYY too much government at every level. I think the government should stay out of: healthcare, education, our homes, governing morality and other countries. Hey, I liked Ron Paul.

National Democrat Platform:::::
""As we come together to declare our vision as Democrats, we are mindful that the challenges of our times are new and profound. This November, the choice we face as Americans may have more impact on our people and our place in the world than any in our lifetimes. We approach this task with a seriousness that matches the challenges before us, but also with a profound optimism about our future – an optimism that springs from our great faith in America, and our great pride in what it means to be Americans. We know the stakes are immeasurably high. For the first time in generations, we have been attacked on our own shores. Our brave men and women in uniform are still in harm's way in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the war against terror. Our alliances are frayed, our credibility in doubt. Our great middle class is hard-pressed. Millions of Americans have lost their jobs, and millions more are struggling under the mounting burden of life's everyday costs. In Washington, the President and his allies stubbornly press on, without regard to the needs of our people or the challenges of our times. It is time for a new direction. John Kerry, John Edwards and the Democratic Party bring a new vision for America – strong at home, respected abroad. An America that offers opportunity, rewards responsibility, and rejoices in diversity. We have a plan to build a strong, respected America: protecting our people, rebuilding our alliances, and leading the way to a more peaceful and prosperous world. We have a plan to build a strong, growing economy: creating good jobs, rewarding hard work, and restoring fiscal discipline. We have a plan to help our people build strong, healthy families: securing quality health care, offering world-class education, and ensuring clean air and water.""

And the demos answer is to turn tail and run to appease the Europeans who are nothing but Socialists.

""We have a plan to build a strong, respected America: protecting our people, rebuilding our alliances, and leading the way to a more peaceful and prosperous world.""
By giving in to the Liberals and letting the Liberals run the Party.
By turning tail and running when we have the terrorists all but beat.
By running we go back to Clinton's Policy of hit and run, tit for tat.

""We have a plan to build a strong, growing economy: creating good jobs, rewarding hard work, and restoring fiscal discipline.""
A fallacy, the same as here in Union County. By increasing taxes the Democrats have historically caused a bad economy.

Their idea of a strong Family is when Gays marry and Abortions are free for all who want one and paid for by the American people.

From the Republican platform:::
""Our Party’s 2004 platform addresses the major issues facing America in the first decade of the 21st century: Winning the War on Terror … because our government’s most solemn duty is to keep its citizens safe. Ushering in an Ownership Era … because a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit will keep our economy strong and provide more opportunities for workers and families.
Building an Innovative Economy to Compete in the World … because America can compete with anyone, anywhere, thanks to our entrepreneurs and risk-takers who keep us on the cutting edge of technology and commerce. Strengthening Our Communities … because our children deserve to grow up in an America in which all their hopes and dreams can come true. Protecting Our Families … because we respect the family’s role as a touchstone of stability and strength in an ever-changing world. This platform makes clear that the American people will have a choice on November 2nd. A choice between strength and uncertainty. A choice between results and rhetoric. A choice between optimism and pessimism. A choice between opportunity and dependence. A choice between freedom and fear. And a choice between moving forward and turning back. The 2004 Republican Party Platform makes clear:
We choose strength. We choose results. We choose optimism. We choose opportunity. We choose freedom.""

To me it's not about democrap vs republican, I like Ron Pauls stance on the issue. The federal government should only exist on a very limited level and most of the power should be in the hands on the individual states. And let the house, senate, and president, NOT the d**n judges, decide if a state has a law that is unconstitutional. I think in Ga our state government does a decent job because they know that the people are watching and that we have good memories come election time. As far as local goes, our local government is a sole dictatorship which I believe is not only illegal but unethical but yet for some reason alot of the local people are apathetic about the issue. How do you like them apples ape?

""I think in Ga our state government does a decent job because they know that the people are watching and that we have good memories come election time. """
The BIGGEST and best reason is because we live in a Balanced Budget State guaranteed by the State Constitution. But then there are some lawmakers who are always trying to pass laws to get around the Constitution and have done so in regards to some local governments taxing powers.
