U.S. troops still in Georgia
The U.S. European Command said on Monday that there were no plans at this time to withdraw the U.S. military trainers from the country. There are still 127 U.S. trainers in Georgia, where the American forces had been preparing the Georgian army for operations in Iraq.

Georgian army flees in disarray as Russians advance
The Georgian Army was in complete disarray last night after troops and tanks fled the town of Gori in panic and abandoned it to the Russians without firing a shot.

Apparently, all the training of Georgian forces by US, NATO and Israeli resources didn't hold up for one moment under true battle conditions.
Bush warns Russia to pull back in Georgia
Almost immediately after his return from the Olympics in China, Bush warned Russia in his strongest comments since the fighting erupted over Georgia's separatist South Ossetia region last week to "reverse the course it appears to be on" and abandon any attempt it may have to topple Georgia's pro-western government.

President Bush is now at the center of possibly one of the most idiotic foreign policy embarrassments into which the US has ever gotten itself.
By having "green-lit" a Georgian invasion of Southern Ossetia, an action for which one cannot even begin to use the word "planned", the US hoped this would crank up a long-term battle between Georgia and Russia.
As of today, Monday 11 August, Russia has just cut Georgia in half militarily, and the Georgian soldiers are deserting in droves. There is very little resistance, and this so-hoped for "long term battle" may well be over by the end of this week.
This means that Russia may just re-absorb Georgia into the Russian Federation, which gives it a boundary all the way up to Armenia, which is friendly to both Russia and Iran.
The US holds absolutely no leverage here, and all of Bush's blustering cannot take back the terrible carnage which has come about, due to the colossally bone-headed choice the US made to back the Georgian invasion of South Ossetia.
