If you read this weeks NGN in the legal ads you will find out the following> A Meeting will be held at the courthouse on Sept 22nd, at 9:00 a.m. to approve $15,000,000 in bonds, This will be done by the presiding judge. Bonds will be issued to cover all the splots projects that paris wanted. Public is invited. Don't know whether you will be able to stop this or not. It sounds like the county is really going to be in debt. STOP THIS ACTION. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO IF THE PUBLIC SHOWS UP WITH AN OUTCRY...L

Go on back to sleep reed, too few people give a dam! Some few may wake up in a couple of years when they get their tax bills!

This guy has to be the most arrogant unfeeling jerk I have ever met. He called for the vote when he should have waited to see if he was even going to win the election. Now in these terrible economic times he is going ahead with a loan that the predictions are that he will never get the money from the sales tax. You know what that means people? It means when the money doesn't come in our tax payments will just go up to cover the shortfall. He doesn't care about the citizens of Union County. I guess he got that hardness from his parents and running his inherited finance company. Everyone tells on him, how he was a spoiled brat as a child. From what I hear around the court house he still pitches tantrums and is vindictive to any one who crosses him. No one knows how far in debt we are now because he never did the last splosh projects. I'm like Bubba, 'Where did the money go?"

People are losing their jobs and homes at an unbelievable rate but ole Liemar keeps on taxing away and spending away. Typical democrat if you ask me. And some people are still crazy enough to support the man.

Paris had plans all alone to Bond and begin spending the money before the election in Nov in case he loses and if he doesn't lose, he's all ready to spend when he wants too.
It shows the arrogance of the man.

I wonder why Mr. Manape hasn't posted here to tell us why it's okay for King Liemar to spend money that he doesn't have?

I wonder why Mr. Manape hasn't posted here to tell us why it's okay for King Liemar to spend money that he doesn't have? he's wrapped himself up in the per capita numbers. His first problem is dis-entangling per capita from per person. His second problem is eliminating children, but wanting to throw in dogs, cats, etc. His third problem is correlating per capita with Religion. Ape is like a rubber ball bouncing around in a little enclosed room, one never knows which corner he's gonna wind up in because he will deny there are any corners.

from the report that lucky told us about::
Can SPLOST funds be used to construct projects for local charities or other non-profit organizations? No. The gratuities clause of the Georgia Constitution bars local governments from using SPLOST or any other public funds to fund capital outlay projects for non-public entities. This restriction applies to for-profit organizations as well as not-for-profit organizations, including charitable organizations (although the General Assembly may authorize the expenditure of public funds to assist charitable organizations). Ga. Const.1983, art. IX, ยง II, par. VIII.

Sometime was right! Just went to the bond hearing and all I found was apathy. No one cares that he is borrowing money that will probably result in a tax rise to pay it back. Our country, financially, by all measure, is coming down around our ears yet he is borrowing money way out ahead of when the splosh goes into effect. Just waiting to see how much money comes in and then do the projects would save us thousands in interest. Tell us how much Bubba. I guess him being a millionaire he doesn't understand how the people who aren't are suffering. Another reason to get a working man back in there.

I too attended the "meeting" at the courhouse this am. The hearing was only to validate the bond, not to fund it. The commish has to have a public meeting before they can fund the bond, not to exceed 6% interest. There was no mention of when this might take place.
The judge mentioned that he had received several letters, but no one had filed an intervention, he stated without that there could be no appeal. I have no idea what that is, wish I had known before this mornings hearing. Any one have any ideas?

Just write a letter saying who you are and stating that you would like to intervene on behalf of your self and other interested parties to stop the proposed bond issue for Union County.
If you hand deliver the letter be sure to write hnd delivered to: and get them to sign and date or mail it certified mail return receipt.
