Did anyone else catch the statement by Obama about how both he and McCain had big jets with newly painted emblems on them and that he could get anywhere he wanted in a short amount of time?? Well, how very nice for him, I can barely find gas in our town and he can fly all over the country...Once again his arrogance comes shining through!! I hope people remember his attitudes come November, flying where and when he wants will be the least of our worries!!

Since both candidates have jets that take them from place to place during this campagain season, it would seem that both are equally "arrogant" and that both should share your scorn.

soaks, you missed the point, McCain suspended his campaign and was going to DC, Obama, said, I'm going where I want when I want and if they need me I fly back and forth, to me that's a big difference.

Nope, McCain pulled a political stunt that is meaningless and Obama called him on it.

McCain did not offer any details on what it means to "suspend" his campagain, and has contiuned to campagain. And as far as the debate on Friday is concerned I certainly can't blame McCain for NOT wanting to defend Republican ideology or his own positions.

This is one of the most important elections of our Nations history. People of this country needs to quit think about party and start listening between the lines and vote for national security.

Obama didn't want to go to DC because he needed to two extra days to cram for the test, the debate on foreign affairs on Friday. (that was the topic to be discussed, not a free for all) soaks you really should keep up with what's going on before you post.

As I said previously, when McCain made the statement about "suspending" his campagain he offered NO explanation as to what that would entail. By NOT defining what a "suspension" would be, he has left it open to interpretation.

He hasn't stopped fund raising, his website is still accepting donations. He hasn't closed his campagain offices across the country. He hasn't muzzled his surrogates. And although he does appear to be making an effort at pulling broadcast ads, this gesture may turn out to be meaningless - since he's getting free air time when interviewed by the media.

I'm sure that both candidates have been preparing for the debate in MS.

As to your concern of a "free for all" debate, it appears to me that our Domestic Economic Policy does have an impact on the Worldwide Economy. Isn't Foreign Policy all about how we interact with others?

McCain's suspension of his campaign apparently doesn't apply to his own advisers.

Despite McCain's claim that he's put his campaign on hold, two of them directly attacked Barack Obama in political terms on television this morning.

Calling out the campaign-suspension fib is kind of useless at a certain point, of course, since the original claim is inherently so ridiculous and borderline meaningless anyway. The suspension itself is a political act, after all.

McCain's eventual position on the bailout will be political, too -- and there's nothing wrong with that. Politics is all about arguing about stuff and deciding what to do about it. The idea that there's some kind of clear line between politics and policy or leadership is a bit of a silly construct to begin with, McCain's phony piety notwithstanding.


Expert: McCain's Ads Won't Be All Down Until End Of Today

Though the McCain campaign announced yesterday that it's pulling all its ads, in reality the logistical challenges of doing that are so daunting that it's unlikely all of McCain's ads will be off the air until the end of today -- by which time it might not end up making much of a difference in the first place.

Evan Tracey, who tracks national ad buys for the Campaign Media Analysis Group, estimates that it'll take until tonight before "95 percent" of McCain's ads are down, and even then McCain spots will still continue to run in markets here and there around the country.

The reality is that closing down a modern campaign's advertising might entail having your ad buyers make dozens of calls to different stations around the country, some of which are small and technologically backward and might be slow about pulling the spots at any rate. This explains why many readers have been reporting to us and other Web sites that they've seen McCain's ads still running.

Tracey stressed that what he's hearing from stations confirms that the McCain campaign is in fact working hard to pull its ads, and adds that this could conceivably hamper McCain politically. "They are legitimately out there trying to pull their spots with vigor," Tracey said. "He is basically going to be drawing down in very important media markets."

Still, if a deal is reached today, which looks increasingly likely, and the campaign instructs its buyers to tell stations to go back up tomorrow, McCain's unilateral disarmament might not amount to quite the act of self-sacrifice it was intended to seem.

Well, Team McCain is still working away this morning. Joe Pounder, the indefatigable press aide, blasted out his morning email of clips and quips to reporters with just a bit of dissonance

John McCain will be in New York City this morning to address the Clinton Global Initiative and then heads back to Washington, D.C. As announced yesterday, the campaign is suspending after today’s remarks. Now on to today’s news…"
