It seems my whining has paid off.
This Saturday there will be a Farmer's Market of vegetables and handcrafts at the courthouse.
More information can be found in the paper this week.
I will be there.
Thanks manape for giving me this information.

It was great and busy, busy, busy. The produce vendors sold out by 8:30, we started at 7:30. We had excellent honey, beeswax and soap sales. One guy had to go 3 different times to fill his truck bed up with corn because he kept selling out. I think it will do good and look forward to participating. The people in charge were nice and friendly, coming around to vist all fo the vendors.
Commissioner Paris came by and I thanked him for supporting the Farmer's Market idea. Met his wife and she is a very nice lady. She knew all about honey and we talked about it. Very friendly and a lovely person.
Can't wait until next Saturday and hope to see some of ya'll there.

Well this Saturday was also great even thought it rained. We took our time getting there and all of the space were just about taken up, talk about surprised. Even though we had 3 different seasons of weather it was still a good place to be . The produce is doing really well and lilred sold all her Banty chickens, and made a right nice profit. She was proud. So if anyone reports some of their chicknes missing it will probably her being a chicken theif She's using the money for school supplies and such. I had repeat customer's from last week for soap and honey and have gotten to meet several old friends and school pals.

HB...Do you actually make the soap? I have got to come and check it out. Do you know if there are any locally grown tomato's there? Ours are still not ready, and I would love to have a good ole tomato sandwich.

Yes, or fried green tomatoes, yummmmm
I think I saw some but you have to get there early, 7:30 is the start time and most times they are sold out by 8:30.
Yes, I make homemade soap with goat's milk instead of water. It retains the fats from the milk to soften the skin. It also holds in all the natural glycerine to draw moisture to your skin. When I set it out on foggy mornings or overcast day's it slowly draws moisture and as the day get's hot it dries out. Pretty weird sometimes.
People seem to love it.

Yes, Freddie and his fmaily are selling veggies and very fast too. Their green beans went fast last week and they had the huge heads of cabbage.
His son is a cute little fellow, that I like to pick at.
His wife is sweet and makes the most delightful earrings and sells them at a much lower price than what they are worth.

Is anyone selling okra there yet? It may be too early for it yet, I'm going to freeze some since I always start craving it around Christmas.

Funny you should mention okra. We were discussing it last weekend. There isn't any, evidently the April snows affected it along with other plants.
I did get some at the Jasper Marketplace and it was rrreeeaaallly good. I loved okra in soup and fried. My mom use to boil it in black eyed peas.
I saw some at Ingles that looked really good, but I don't think there is any locally. At least I haven't seen any.
Tell your neighbor to bring them on down, the produce sells really well.
As for bickering, I don't like it. I just wished people could present 2 different sides of an opinion without getting so upset. But it's not possible because one side, usually the religious right feels that their way is the only wat, no room for anything else.

I know Freddie and his wife well. Discussions are just that, discussions, debates are two-sided. Religion is what one makes of it. Either you are for or you are against. There is no straddling fences.
Getting back on topic, I am overloaded with wonderful veggies. I appreciate what Freddie has done for many people, near and far. He is a good man. His wife also.

But it's not possible because one side, usually the religious right feels that their way is the only wat, no room for anything else. I guess I'm considered a member of the "religious right" but I don't feel like my way is the only way. When someones opinion differs from mine that's fine, but if they have the right to express thier opinion then I feel like I have the right to express mine also. Now lets get back on topic, my neighbor is going to Chattanooga tomorrow and supposedly they have a decent crop of okra there. She's gonna try to find me some.
