Well I was going to see the Golden Compass until I just read that the sequels will follow the books. Sorry, but you can't kill God. It has already been tried and didn't work.
I saw all the Harry Potter's, Mary Poppins, Santa Clause, Easter Bunny and all of the Disney magical characters.
However, the guy that wrote Golden Compass is an atheist and doesn't believe in God then how can he write a book about killing God? How can you kill something you don't believe in.
Now I am in a quandry should I go see it or not? Should I be informed or not? Should I form an opinion based on other's opinion's?

Don't go. We're are responsible for what enters our brain. No need of putting stuff there that causes rot.

So, who has filled you with this "rot" idea? Have you seen the movie? Was it rot?

I've heard some bad things about the movie, but haven't seen it so I can't really say one way or the other.

I mostly want to go to see the computer graphics, from the triailer they look awesome.
It being a movie I don't think it will put anything into my head. Just entertainmet.
When we saw Harry Potter I didn't go out and buy witchcraft items, we just enjoyed watching it.

Ok "B" We are "entertained" by stuff that [for some turns out to be harmful entertainment] We live our lives in our head and when we start acting out some of the stuff thats up there we harm ourselves and those that we love. Put good stuff in your head. Don't do nothing that would make you mother ashamed.
Satan would love to kill God but it is an impossible fantasy. For with out God, he could not be held accountable. We kind of like the idea of being free ourselves however, we know we have to give account for ourselves.

Haven't done a lot of research on this movie myself because we're just no movie goer's. With all the hoopla coming up about it, I read a review on Yahoo this morning. The review basically said the movie wasn't so great. I know sometimes a review will say something is bad, then it goes on to be gazillion dollar box office hit. So, who's to say? I did find this last paragraph a bit interesting though - "Oh yes, and about that tizzy that Pullman's writings are anti-Christian, and that "The Golden Compass" foists atheism on malleable, unsuspecting children — any reference to religion is totally vague and up for interpretation. The evil body trying to manipulate young minds isn't any specific church but rather the broadly imposing Magesterium.
Tickle Me Elmo is more subversive."The rest of the review can be seen here - news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071204/ap_en_re/film_review_golden_compass;_ylt=AoXnSjuPqEf5X6mpgX2D73RxFb8C

Here's a review from a friend who is Catholic & went to see "The Golden Compass". " We went to see Golden Compass Saturday night. It definitely wasn’t anything to be in an uproar over! The graphics were pretty good and it actually looks like the animals are talking. I would recommend it. "

I'm a Catholic and I'm not messing with entertaining my mind with a show that kills God. That's not something I could explain "why" to, to God.
I will not die or suffer if I miss that movie, but I may have to explain myself if I do. I choose NO!

But, it's not your GOD that is killed. It's a God from another World & it's pretend!! It's like killing Barney from another world.
I bought 3 of the books the other day & hubby is reading the 1st one. I will read them & tell ya what happens! Then, I guess I'll have to go down to Gainesville or exit 20 & see the actual movie.

Let me know about the book, but don't tell me how it ends.

Oh, I did not know that, I've only heard talk. That's very different. Why do you have to go down there to see it? Does it not play here?

No, no, no you don't understand. As you know, the author of the books is an Atheist and admits that the books are about killing God. They have deliberately made the first movie "wholesome" to draw people in. The next ones will follow the book's wicked path. That kind of manipulation should make you angry.
Furthermore, the Bible says that a fool says in his heart there is no God, so why would I want to read a book or see a movie by a fool?
