I made poured beeswax candles into old timey canning jars, 6 1 pound blocks of wax, 12 mini-blocks of wax, 8 octagon shape blocks with a bee imprint on them.
The tank we drain our honey in has developed a leak so it's back to extracting into a 5 gallon bucket and pouring it into bottling tanks.
I will have big arm muscles before this honey season is over. Cut comb is doing really well and we are selling out of it as fast as we can make it.
Cut 2 batches of soap last night to put up to dry, 1 batch was too dry and 1 was too wet. That's what I get for making it on Sunday. Got lye under my nails and on my hands, so it was a rush to get back into the house to water.
Lilred has decided to do melt 'n pour glycerin soap and the only thing that is saving my sanity is that it wipes right up, because it's soap. However, I have no idea how it got over the entire kitchen.
She now thinks all spiders are Brown Recluse, so out nighttime girls that come out will have to watch out for her. I had to stop in the middle of melting wax on the back porch last night to go to the end of the trailer to verify a spider. A huge one near the roof that spins her web at night and then takes it down in the mornings. I verified that the big, fat spider is not a "brown recruse" as she call's it and she is only looking for a nightime snack, leave it alone.
Then a big flying roach/Miller bug (?) tries to beat the back door down around the porch light, I am trying to get it off the porch before it becomes a permanent in the wax and just as I tell her not to open the door, she does and in it goes. SO she's screaming, running through the house. I finally catch it in a canning jar and we set it free after a big discussion of should we throw it into the spider's web so she can eat it and will the spider go into the house because her bedroom is at that end.
Just another day at the Funny Farm.
