I crochet while watching tv, in the car (as a passenger not the driver), at lunch at work, while sitting and waiting like craft shows and doctors appointments or oil changes. My hands have to stay busy doing something. I tell my husband it's my therapy, it keeps my hands from being around his throat My husband hasn't figured out how I can read a book and watch tv at the same time. My dad said it wasn't possible, but hubby verified that it was, for me.

Ok Crochet buddy here's one for us
Plastic-Bag Mat Idea Is a Huge Hit! Edited for content
She suggested using plastic bags to crochet sleeping mats for the homeless and people in very poor, developing countries. This would not only help our landfills but would also provide a reasonably comfortable, water-resistant "mattress" that would be lightweight and easy to carry from place to place or ship to people in need.
After preparing the plastic bags into strips, with a large-size hook (Bendy used a size K for her mat), crochet a beginning chain the approximate width you want your mat to be and then work rows of easy single crochet until the mat is the desired length. Of course, you can also make Bendy's delightful checkered mat, too!
Plastic-bag sleeping mats would make great charitable projects for homeless shelters in almost any community. They would be an ideal "group project" for crochet clubs. Even better, wouldn't it be great to have volunteers at the shelters who could teach the residents to crochet their own mats? Thanks, Joan, for this terrific idea! I think it could have wonderful, far-reaching results.

I can't see it helping the landfills, unless you were using bags that had been filled with garbage (oh, yuck!) I have used bags you get from the grocery store to make a mat I use to wipe your feet when you come into the kitchen from the garage. The mat is really tough and can be washed. Just don't put it in the dryer. The more it is used/washed, the softer it gets.
