socialism An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity. There are many varieties of socialism. Some socialists tolerate capitalism, as long as the government maintains the dominant influence over the economy; others insist on an abolition of private enterprise. All communists are socialists, but not all socialists are communists. And the natural inclination for all governments is to control everything!! Lawmakers do not operate in a vacuum. They cooperate with whatever influences their decisions. For example, accelerated depreciation on vehicles over xxxxGVW. This provides an economic incentive that dampers competition of the choices a consumer has, distorting (guiding) the marketplace. This distortion does not reflect true consumer choice (demand), which should be the indicator for what the manufacturer produces. Taking this one step further, any laws that guide (control, distort) the marketplace are written by socialist lawmakers. It would seem that our socialist government is perpetuated by both political parties. So, is there good socialism and bad socialism? EDIT: spelling

There are many types of influence - financial inducement is one form, or a lawmaker may agree with the agenda of a particular constituency, or there may be other factors that influence their decisions.
Freedom loving people have many opinions. In this country we have a Constitution that has established a framework for the expression of those ideas. Consequently there are many opinions on how this phrase should be interpreted and implemented:

""It would seem that our socialist government is perpetuated by both political parties."" true-true, and what a mess we have from re-electing the some ole-same ole ones back to congress where influence reigns supreme. Regardless of where I stand, it would appear that within our consitutional framework a majority of freedom loving citizens keep voting for some flavor of Socialist government as the implement to promote the general welfare.

"Promote the general welfare..." This is an old old argument.
When written, "general welfare" meant "general public good" rather than the name given to a specific FDR post-depression era new-deal initiative.
The "general welfare" is not promoted when nearly half of most people's income goes to some tax or another. General welfare and free markets are best served whan taxes are minimum and people are allowed to choose among the best service providers - not when the government forces us - at gunpoint and under threat of imprisonment - to buy from the least efficient service providers.
The government certainly has a place in conducting war and national defense as well as infrastructure and even some temporary safety-netting. However, it also has an obligation to make sure that our nation's freedoms aren't undermined by overtaxation and overregulation.

How's this.
You don't have to learn Spanish, but if you want to know what they are saying about you, you had better learn.
Just common sense, not a forced issue.
And don't think they don't know English.
A good friend of mine's daughter speaks Spanish excellently, typical looking young normal, USA teen. My friend say's you should see the looks on the Spanish peoples faces when she replies to their rude comments in Spanish.
Look's like they judge us by our our appearance also.

"This is Socialism pure and simple and the dumb voters don't have a clue, but with the toppling of the economy I believe they will find out what type of government we have and the parasites who have been living off the sweat of their brow. If the object lesson you have envisioned comes to pass, I fear that the form of government that would result from such a crisis is something that neither of us would like to see.

"Promote the general welfare..." This is an old old argument. Yes, due to the fact that the statement does not specifically state how it should be implemented (something that each generation wrestles with), I would suspect that this discussion has been going on for well over 200-years.

There needs to be a "benevolent" military intervention that would force a return to constitutional government which includes getting rid of the private corporation called the Federal Reserve.
The last president to kick the Bankers out was Andrew Jackson President Jackson called the Bank a monster and was determined to pull all its teeth. He said:
"I am ready with the screws to draw every tooth and then the stumps."
And our hero did exactly as he promised. When he left office, the U.S. had a real currency consisting of silver and gold coins. Our hero called paper money "RAG MONEY" and this is what he said about it:
"The paper-money system and its natural associations—monopoly and exclusive privileges—have already struck their roots too deep in the soil, and it will require all your efforts to check its further growth and to eradicate the evil."

It is too bad we are ignorant of our real history. If we ONLY knew, If our schools only taught, Oh! IF ONLY! Andrew Jackson was truly converted, he was saved! He was a Godly man. Go here and read.....Look at the pictures. Read about his lovely wife Rachael. There is news behind the news. Some of us remember that Andrew Jackson fought, and won, the Battle of New Orleans. Do you know why? Turn the TV off. Go here and read. Then cry and pray....pray for our Nation! www.reformation.org/president-jackson.html

" Promote the general welfare" is a tenet of liberty and peace through national security. " " Lowering the general welfare for some citizens while raising it for certain others" is a socialist concept.

A "republic is governed by laws. "Laws" know no race color or creed..... supposedly. Unfortunately, it may not distinguish between those attributes, but it does differentiate between those who can afford it and those who cannot. Access to justice is cost prohibitive for most Americans.
