I must agree WOM. I have lots of questions. I think I will enjoy knowing as also I am known.
If a brain could be transplanted into a different body, as a kidney or or other organs are, what of the mind that directs the brain? Perhaps it is our mind that that makes us who we are. Perhaps that is why the "will" is so important? Perhaps that is why it is so important to God that we "choose" him. Perhaps that is why the tree was planted in the garden of eden, to provide the opportunity to choose to obey. We know God would never force us against our will.

I should have known better, it's impossible to have a good conversation about religion without somebody coming in and trying to bash others beliefs. I'm done with this thread, y'all have fun! Maybe its because so few agree but most will fight you to prove the other guy is lying. There's nothing wrong with this discussion. Logically, given enough time it must end in agreement. I just want to know what the Universe is expanding INTO... and where do black holes send matter, plasma and light ... and when whatever makes us conscious, responsive and thoughtful leaves our bodies it must go someplace. I'm pretty sure wherever that is, God lives there. I do agree (oops, it's happening already) that this discussion has been enlightening. I enjoyed reading your explanation on Pauline Christianity and I learned something about blood sacrifice and it's tie-in between the Old and New. We're just coming at the same thing from different perspectives. I have a very hard time taking the Bible literally, it's a product of the times it was written in and a product of the people who compiled it. They were what they were. We are a different people, we have a different understanding of our natural world. I don't know where I was before, and I don't know where I'll be afterwards, but I do know that it's all part of Creation (or some might term it God's Plan or God's Kingdom). Maybe how we live our lives prepares us for the next stage, maybe it doesn't amount to a hill of beans and we just become part of the energy field. I do know that in the long run cooperation is better than selfishness, and I know that we're leaving this world with just as much stuff and we entered with - zippo. I also know that true acceptance of Christ is not based on some future reward, but on acceptance of his ministry (I think Jefferson did some interesting work on this). As far as what the universe is expanding into - maybe there's enough dark matter to pull it all back to a singularity, maybe it's just God's heartbeat - who knows? Yeah, Black Holes are interesting.

Perhaps that is why the tree was planted in the garden of eden, to provide the opportunity to choose to obey. Well, another take on this is that of a metaphor - the passing from the plane of oneness with God, into the plane of duality where good and evil exist. Moving from the "somewhere" to the "here". Or some see it as a passage from our animal nature to the human. Some see it as a fall from grace. Sounds to me like it's all describing the same thing.

Soaks wrote, "and I learned something about blood sacrifice and it's tie-in between the Old and New." I promise when you study the Sanctuary service it will expand your understanding and the whole scripture will be more meaningful. I promise Leviticus and Hebrews is a good place to start. I promise this link is a good study aid www.bibleexplained.com/I promise you I found out I don't know as much I used to think I did. And, regarding black holes and expanding universe. The latest thought concept and model is, "the electric universe" Google it. I tend to believe its more accurate. Our institutions of higher learning have missed it on a number things. Fossil fuel being one. OIL DOES NOT COME FROM DEAD DINOSAURS. THE EARTH MAKES IT! This one idea is responsible for the Nation of Russia gaining position in the world while the USA is loosing. And George Bush is just like I used to be!!

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. Malachi 4:1
Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. Ezekial 28:18;19

Do you really think God is so hateful, jealous, and mean? Or is this just a threat written by the government censors of the testaments intended to turn people into sheeple by playing on ignorance and superstition?

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 PETER 3:4-10
