well, now it's as if nothing happened at all in terms of pain - I can use it again! It's still a little purplish black but not as much - this was just plain weird!

Are you sure you didn't rupture a blood vessel? I have done that on my right ring finger and it sounds like that may have been what happened to you. Especially since you can't see any points of entry.

good point - that might have been it - I never thought about that even though I actually do have VERY weak blood vessels and bruise easily, bleed heavily, and have those unsightly vein things all over my legs!

I have had the VERY unfortunate experience of being stung by a scorpion....and believe me, you WOULD have felt it happen, in a BIG way!!! One was once hiding under the bed covers at the bottom of my bed; I got in, stretched out, and felt this needle-like pain shoot up through my toe. I honestly thought a needle had been stuck through my foot and it continued to sting for several minutes after that. It stayed red and swollen for a few days, very tender to the touch. So....I know this happened a while ago for you, and it sounds like you are healing, but I think it was probably not a scorpion...

And yuck - in the bed covers - don't you just hate that?!? Once I found a dead spider in the bed with me - so gross! A girl I work with says we swallow about 5 spiders a year in our sleep! EEEEEEWWWWW!
