Boy, the stock market is really getting hit hard today. Glad I don't have a lot of money linked to stocks at the moment! It is gonna have a lot of ripple effects, though.

I know, I have a lot of money in mutual funds and stocks. I have lost over $30,000 since the first of January. Oh well, it will come back some day!!

Gary said two of the guys at BuildersFirst got laid off and they had both been there for over 15 years. That is so sad.

The economy around here is really tough, coosa... not just for building related businesses. I just hope people can hang on.

Things are tough for most businesses right now, especially in retail and building. Business owners will have to make some tough decisions to keep their overhead low.

The restaurants are getting hit pretty hard too. Was talking to an owner earlier in the week that told me the rising cost of food and few people coming out to eat, especially during the week are causing his business to post some record numbers in the negative column.

That is exactly why I don't foresee a wally3rdworld box store coming to Blairsville, we don't have the money to support one.
Folks it is time to tighten those belts and settle in for the long haul.

This is exactly why I think the county, the state and the Fed should halt any extravagant spending projects till we stabalize in a year or two or three or what ever the case may be.

'specially the county right now! Lamar, are you listening? (Don't think so!) We don't need to have a new golf club house pro shop or what ever it is called... we need basics of police, fire, roads, etc....
