Did you happen to see all my violets in the window over my kitchen counters? I bought those as tiny little things at Bilo last year. They are getting so huge, I am going to have to move them to a table. That's an east facing window.

I pointed those out to lilred last night, they are absolutely beautiful. That white one is huge!
You have a perfect window for growing, to bad you didn't know that in time to make a bigger place to put plants.

You have a perfect window for growing, to bad you didn't know that in time to make a bigger place to put plants. My windows are already 12" deep because of the Polysteel walls. I just didn't expect the violets would get so huge in one year. I might bring them into the office and start all over again.

Picked up a violet on my way home. Wanted to see if I could do as well as you do with yours. Got a huge box of mixed seeds to sprinkle in some spots I don't have flowers. Hope it works. Kind of like a pig in a poke

Oh good. What color did you get? I have a great website for unusual violets and orchids but it's in my favorites at home. I can't remember the site but they are in NC. I think it is Bluebird something but now I can't find it. I'll let you know because it's really fun to look at all the fabulous colors they have developed.

I got a small pink and white one.
My neighbor friend who is in Florida raises orchids and so does one of my bosses.
You need to look up the Bird of Paradise orchid. It is really beautiful

OK does someone have an African violet pot sitting around they don't use anymore? I am trying very hard to be frugal and not spend $5 on a very pretty one I saw. My violet is white with lite purple on it not pink. Brought it to work to grow in my windowsill. Waiting on the rain to get here to wet the ground good, before I sprinkle my seeds out, makes for better germination than dry soil and watering. It's hard to wait cause that big box of mixed seeds is calling my name. Hubby got his tiller yesterday, so we will be planting new grass where the dog lot used to be. We are already discussing the garden and my lettuce bed. Dumped my 3 day's worth of coffee grounds and water over the Bleeding Heart area. I haven't uncovered them from the leaves yet. They are succulents and I want them to stay covered until late March or April. The Hyacinth is looking good as well as some others that have poked through. I have some strawberry plants that made it through so my coffee compost will be put on them the next week or so. Someperson, please pm me so I can figure out when to get together for my seeds you are saving. Your secret identity will be safe with me. Planning on doing a chicken pen cleaning soon to get my "organic fertilizer" out for the flower beds.
