Water, sewer plans approved for retail giant By Norman Cooper, NGN Editor The Blairsville City Council approved water and sewer plans for a proposed retail giant during their meeting Tuesday night. Several months ago the council determined it would have the capacity for sewer requirements of a Wal-Mart store. The plans were provided to Engineering Management, Inc (EMI) to be reviewed. EMI, in a letter to Mayor Jim Conley, stated, "EPD approved the plans prepared by Wolverton & Associates for the water and sewer lines on the Wal-Mart site... we recommend the City approve the latest set of plans submitted for the project." "Wal-Mart is asking for the city to go on record of the city approving them for water and sewer," Mayor Conley said. "All their engineering planning has been completed. They are requesting we give them approval so it can be part of their minutes so they can go forth with their project." Rhonda Mahan, Bill Kelley, Debbie Phillips and Jane Thompson approved the motion to grant approval for water and sewer. nganews.com/

Bee, we know that Wal*mart won't be able to do all that! No need to get so dramatic! But it will provide a few jobs, even if they are not high paying... if I needed to put food on the table for my kids, I would rather have a low paying job a couple miles away than one that is an hour away. We will be able to get some goods at lower prices than is available locally now without driving 45 minutes. Wal*mart is not "saving us" from anything except shelling out more money for gas to drive to the other ones... it is also going to save our sales tax from going out of the county.

I'm glad that Lamar had the guts to support them, it's not like he could stop them from coming anyway.

I will just bet Mr. Nelson tractor is glad WallyWorld doesn't sell tractors since they will be neighbors.
And a wonderful new road.
I AM SO EXCITED!
Wonder who owns the property that sold to WallyWorld. Hey, Bubba can you find that out for me?
I JUST CAN"T WAIT FOR IT TO GET HERE.

It is out the 4 lane right slap next to Nelson's Tractor Company.
At least it will be outside of town and not smack in the middle of it.
I forgot all of the tire businesses that Wal-Mart will undercut also.

OH and Blairsville Optical, and we will get another beauty shop, yippers. I can't wait.
But that spiffy new game room and 24/7 schedule they run, will give the teens a place to hang out.
I am so excited.
